I usually get a pin to commemorate the trip. We usually visit during a holiday (typically Labor Day or Christmas), so I always buy a holiday pin with the year on it. I buy it first because with all the running around we do, I'm always afraid I'll forget!

It's cool because I have a Disney shadowbox with cork on the inside, so I push all my pins in there to display all the times we've been! :sohappy:

Heading for the great escape.
Would that be the high dollar airport beer or the high dollar Disney beer? :slurp:

Disney, then if I get the taste for another I dont have to worry about driving.

Though in 2010 we stopped at Walmart enroute and stocked up with pre chilled and a rather large bottle of Jose and 2 types of mix to christen the balcony of the tree house. (But obviously that doesn't count as 1st Disney purchase)

Our first purchase is usually lunch at the resort..then off to Magic Kingdom where we purchase some frozen lemonades from the little shop near the tea cups.

This will be only our 4th stay on property, but one purchase I forgot to mention was the purchase of a resort pin on the two times that we stayed in a resort for the first time. In 2007, we stayed at Port Orleans Riverside for the first time, and among my inititial purchases that first day at the resort, was a POR pin. I didn't buy one the following year, since we stayed at the same resort. But last year at Coronado, I bought a CSR pin first thing, among the other items I listed. And this year, we're staying at the Wilderness Lodge, so in addition to any other items we purchase as soon as checking in (such as a new Mickey plush for my son) will be a WL Resort pin.

Like many others have said, our first purchase does depend on when we get there. The last few times it has been lunch at our resort. However, during our last trip we did morning EMH at MK and woke up later than we meant to so we didn't want to take the time to eat breakfast at our resort. We got cinnamon rolls at the Mainstreet Bakery before heading to SM. I may never be able to walk past that bakery again without stopping in for another roll! YUM!!!!!

Lots of great responses, everyone. I think Pumbas may have convinced me to switch from coffee to beer! Having thought about it more, I think the first purchase this year will likely be an autograph book so my daughter can have some cool memories of her first visit.

During my last trip to WDW after I had checked in at Pop Century I wandered through the gift shop on my way out to the bus stop. I saw a Mickey wrist watch that caught my eye. I paid for it, took it out of the case and put it on. I then put the receipt in my pocket and headed to the parks.

We usually arrive at night, after dinnertime so are so hungry. So we throw our stuff in our room (Yacht or BoardWalk typically) and head over to ESPN Club for wings, nachos, and ribs.

Our first official meal on Disney property, the first thing we typically buy.

Four resort mugs for us, that way if our room isn't ready quite yet (we usually arrive around lunch), we can fill them up and take a nice stroll around the resort (Pop Century) while we wait. 2 weeks and 2 hours until we get to do it again!!!

I always go to the hess and buy a twelve pack of beer. My girlfriend makes fun of me and can't believe I haul it through the lobby and what not, but I always tell her I don't care this is a 50 dollar twelve pack that I got for 12. haha. Actually it's probably more like a 60 dollar twelver.

Our mistake of our first purchase was Mickey Ears on a hot day. All day it was hold my hat while we rode rides. Then it was just too hot for my daughter to wear. I was so happy when half of our party went back to our room to unload it! lol Next visit we'll wait until the end of the night for that purchase!

anything you buy at the parks and dtd can be sent to your resort giftshop if you dont want to carry them all day. Then you just pick up your items there.
