What if you CAN'T stay in the Cinderella Castle Suite?

No "just visiting" guests, just the winner and the (up to) 5 additional guests they choose to spend the night.

You sure, I know if I was staying in a nice hotel room, and wanted to show off to my friends, I would be able to. I am sure, with the level of service expected by the castle concierge, I would be able to bring a few friends up to see it.

(Can you imagine someone in a school group winning and trying to have 200 cheerleaders up there?)

Unfortunately, yes... Yes I can. Not all at once, mind you (there are fire code considerations)

As for a Guest not being able to make use of the Suite that night, perhaps they award them the alternate prize given to mail-in entries in the instances where the computer decides to award the Castle Suite to a mail-in entry.

The trick is, once you win, the prize is yours. You have to make the personal decision as to whether to accept it or not. Would people change plane reservations? Absolutely. Would people extend their vacations a day? Sure, if they thought it was worth it. If you, for any reason, are forced to refuse the castle suite stay, I bet Dream Squad would take a little pity on you (not giving you Dream Fast Passes, but maybe a regular fast pass or two)

Yup, on most days during the Year of a Million Dreams (Part Deux), a one-night stay in the Cinderella Castle Suite is randomly awarded to one person. This person just happens to be in the right place at the right time, such as (random example) the third person from the left on the center carriage of Soarin' at 9:36 am. They can take up to five other guests with them.

That would stink to be the person right behind the person that won...lol

We won Dream Ears (it was a big deal for me) during our December '07 trip. I've seen the Dream Squad numerous times between our Feb & Dec '07 trips. I've talked to them more than once. They're so nice, fun, and interesting. I found it to be a treat just spending time chatting with them. :) Also, we've had lots of little 'moments' awarded to us...like free embroidery on our regular Mickey ears, participation in the Daytona 500 via video games free of charge in the arcade at the Space Mountain exit (I won!!!), a walk-on ride & tour of the control room at Expedition Everest, bonus fast-passes without using our key cards at Kilanjaro Safaris, etc. Those types of moments are fun and add to the magic.

We generally plan to not go to work the day after arriving home from WDW just to have that day of rest & settling back in. If on our last day we were approached with the Cinderella Suite we would change our flights and plan accordingly. That's a once in a lifetime opportunity. We wouldn't pass it up for anything. I actually dreamed we won this prize a few nights ago. Wouldn't it be awesome if that was a sign of things to come??? LOL! Wishful thinking, I know.

The blog by the suite winner at allearsnet.com rocks! I recommend this read to anyone and everyone!

What if you can't (or choose not to) stay in the Suite as a gift? Is there a consolation prize? Are you left with the dream of what "might have been" and nothing to show for it?

So, what happens?

In a way yes there is. Along w/ the suite you also get YOMD Mickey Mouse ears. So I'm assuming that if you don't want to stay in the suite you could still keep the ears. My aunt won the castle suite back in 2007 and gave me her ears, that how I know you also get the ears.

You have to use it on that day. If you cannot then it's your lose.

If what a dream squad member told my KttK tour group last month is true then the dream squad made 1 exception on that matter.

He (being the DS member) told my tour group that there was a day when an elderly woman won the suite the day before the rest of her family came down. Long story after about 1 1/2 hrs of talking to the dream squad and some managers she was able to give that nights stay in the suit to another family and her and her family were able to stay in the suit the following night.

On one wonderful occassion, I was fortunate enough to tour the Castle Suite, and I would do anything I had to do to make sure I could take full advantage of winning it. It is a truly amazing room that no one can even fathom until they've been inside. Anyone that wouldn't cancel their flight or miss a day of work to stay there does not deserve the prize in the first place. It's a once in a lifetime thing. Trust me.

I would 100% miss work for the chance to go in the suite.Sigh... on my last trip I never saw any of the dream squad... however I did find a $20 bill in the parking lot one day ... that was pretty cool. I looked around to see if anyone had dropped it and not a person in sight .

I'll amend this question....

Could I postpone my stay in the suite? For example, it's the last day of our trip and we have no choice but to be on our flight to be at work the next morning. However, we will be bakc in 2 months for a long weekend when we could do it. Since they theoretically have not yet chosen someone for those nights, would they do this?

Also, my wife was wondering, when the Dream Team taps you on the shoulder, do they ask about your plans in terms of staying until the next day or so BEFORE trying to give the prize, or do they immediately go in to give mode and leave the possibility open for major dissappointment and no "consolation" prizes to fill the void?
Nope, You'll get nothing. Thats just life. No big deal.
If it were me..Id make sure i stayed the extra time needed to spend the night.

Ooo, how did you get to tour the suite?

I would change my plans if awarded the Castle Suite on the last day of my stay. If we had flown, and if it was going to cost a fortune to change our tickets, I would rent a car and drive home the day after our CS stay. It's only an 8 1/2 hour drive for us, so we usually drive if all four of us are going to WDW. If it's only me and a friend or my hubby, we fly. Either way, I'd answer the questions to ensure eligibility and then work out how to get home later.

Sorry, I have to call Bull Pies on that. It never happened

The Dream Squad does not pick any of the prizes. The prizes are randomly picked by computer. The dream squad is told where to go, at what time, to which seat, area, or number a person in a line. The guests are then taken away to a seperate area if it requires an eligiblilty check, and then awarded. They dont look around for an deserving family, they have no say in who gets the prizes. If I am mistaken, sorry, but I am 99% sure this is the process.

You are not mistaken. Every award opportunity is randomly generated by a computer, and Dream Squad CMs station themselves at the award point and award away. I have seen three Dream Squad CMs just hanging out, talking, strolling around a ride entrance, and all of the sudden - like out of nowhere - they get all loud and excited and start handing things out (Dream Ears).

Sadly, there are NO consolation prizes. If you win a prize that you cannot or will not accept, it's gone. As far as the suite is concerned, I do not believe they re-award it on the same day if the first 'winner' cannot/does not accept the prize.

Uh, then how come I got the ears without winning a night in the castle suite? They give out the ears as another prize as well. We got them halfway through a trail at AK. It's totally random.

Yep, take it or leave it. If you can't take it than it will go to someone else. It's a once-in-a-lifetime offer. If you give up your chance there's no negotiating.

I don't know, I think it was magic. One second, I was sitting next to the Cinderella fountain by Tinkerbell's Treasures, and the next, I was going up the elevator to the suite with Laura and her family. Very strange, yet very exciting.

Lucky!

Maybe I'll get that lucky this summer.
