What about the recession? They seem fine years after that?WDW is a luxury good. One super nasty economic issue and WDW is in real trouble.

After reading this, and remembering how we only went like once every 3 years for ONLY two days (not quoting father from CoP here), that does beg the question:Well, I just know people that I know that used to go every 2 years now are waiting 5. But your right attendance is still up, and ya know what maybe Disney should not be something the average family goes to every year. When we were kids it was a luxury and we went every 6 years or so.
Nope you are right. People complain its to crowded. So time to weed out middle class and below. Maybe even middle upper. After reading this, and remembering how we only went like once every 3 years for ONLY two days (not quoting father from CoP here), that does beg the question:
Is Disney trying to weed out the *cough* lower payers to get the high(er) rollers?
Harsh I know, but Disney is a business and from what it looks like they are trying to bring in more money at a higher rate...? I could be totally wrong on that but that is what I am starting to see.
But at the same time, what if that doesn't play in Disney's favor and they start "failing" in certain areas, especially in the parks?Nope you are right. People complain its to crowded. So time to weed out middle class and below. Maybe even middle upper.
Until there is real competition there will always be replacements. I wonder how all the tour group things work (like pricing). Universal scared disney and is why we are getting new stuff. But following harry potter with kong fallon and f and f, i think made them calm down. The third park if done right will hopefully scare them again. But the issue is... universal isnt disney. The princesses, mickey minnie. Universal cant compete with that under 10 age. You can argue minions but its not the same. But at the same time, what if that doesn't play in Disney's favor and they start "failing" in certain areas, especially in the parks?
Sounds like Disney could become the opposite of "kid-friendly"I don't see WDW fail or fall anytime soon.
On the contrary. Naturally WDW will/has already fall(en) as an interesting creative endeavour. But there is an enormous market for a central US hub for selfies, boozing, shopping and celeb character experiences.

I would think more drinks would be needed at MK versus Epcot
So much depends on Star Wars, IMO. If the WDW attractions are popular, if the movies continue to be popular.I'm seeing a day, maybe a year after Star Wars opens that many people just say "enough is enough", it's not worth it anymore. Either the crowds or the prices will be too much to take.
Wasn't stressing. I promise. I was just curious what everybody else thought.I think we have a better shot of some psycho country hitting us with a bomb before WDW is gone in my lifetime...(i'm 54). I feel comfortable that the physical me will be worm food before WDW is gone. Life's too short to stress on the what if's...
It has already been planned for. if everything fails there will be major price increases, new up-charge events, and significant cutbacks.
On the other hand, if things are a smashing success, there will be major price increases, new up-charge events, and significant cutbacks.
dont give them that idea...If the theme parks survived 9/11, they can survive anything.. That said, if at any time, the TWDC thinks its IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THEIR SHAREHOLDERS that the TWDC sell off the theme park division and simply license the characters, they would do it in a heart beat!
Its never about whats best for the theme parks or the theme park guests..
It would be interesting to see...however it happens. Right now they are still growing, acquiring as many different ways to make money as they can...
....but eventually everything big that gets bigger, always fails. Sears & Roebuck Co.....Rome..
