It has a very loyal following

I prefer superships and the better island over characters…but that’s just me

Coco Cay better ? Ever been there on a day when there are two of the larger ships like Icon class are there ? Its like driving 12 hours in traffic from a busy city to stand in another line wile you're hot in another busy city.

There’s way more to do than castaway or that pathetic cheap new one

Not saying it’s not overcrowded at times…but they made the investment

What’s you glowing based on? I give you the benefit of the doubt of not being baked in on DCL
Impressive engineering, lovely location, sand and water. It’s a tropical paradise - just not a Castaway. It’s a very different vibe and look to the original island and that’s an important distinction. Don’t expect Castaway v2. Now if you arrive on a full Wish as opposed to our Magic it may be far busier but we found it so very pleasant. THAT pier walk wasn’t near as bad as expected - but that wouldn’t be the case in inclement weather. Food could be improved, or maybe we missed a real BBQ, but it was still enjoyable and personally we didn’t have any more fly issues than say Epcot. Others mileage may vary but that’s nature and there were several pro active things in place (fans, air curtains, more glass). Even the tram ride wasn’t a disappointment especially factoring in walking on Castaway from ship to end of the family area, or taking the Serenity tram after walking from the ship. Trams were plentiful. We saw six running non stop from the entrance.

In short it far exceeded our low expectations. Could be improved but we wouldn’t alter a booking if we saw the name (unlike the Wish!). We would look forward to returning. Just don’t expect a Castaway v2.

Too bad they couldn't repurpose it as a "Land Docked" Disney Cruise Line Hotel..Giving the chance for families to experience a "Taste" of a Disney Cruise at half the cost (But, then again they would want you to pay more depending on how long you stay).

The meaning of this post is confusing.

Most people said it was too expensive.

Star Wars is super popular.

I think one of the missing concepts is that you have to look at entire families. Galaxy's Edge was an immersive Star Wars experience. Let's say you have a family of 5. One parent is a hard core fan, and one kid is a hard core fan. The other kid is of the opinion that Star Wars is OK, but is not going to dress up and pretend. The other two family members don't give two figs about it.

Yes, there might be a "parent and one kid" trip for a special birthday or something, but I believe that most of the time a family vacation is going to be as a family, and something the whole family enjoys. If as somebody else said, it was a Star Wars themed hotel, but still in its basic functionality a hotel the whole family could go. But to have to pay a premium for an experience that only two people out of five would really enjoy is where I think they missed their audience.

What does Coco cay have to offer that you can't do at Castaway?

I will be honest I haven't seen/don't remember there being anything you could do at CoCo Cay, that you can't do at Castaway Bay. I mean you might have some personal taste things that make you like one island better than the other (personally i like the food a bit more at CoCo Cay, and the pool is pretty awesome, but i think the snorkeling is way better at Castaway) but nothing comes to mind that CoCo Cay offers that Castaway doesn't.

A huge water park…a interconnecting pool complex with swim ups…better food…lots of water sports options

Now not entirely apples to apples…there are upcharges…but the facility difference is big.

But then again…castaway is 25+ years old…and all things get eclipsed
