Ah, my dear friend, a jetstream of balderdash, you say? A most poetic assessment! But let us not forget, it is often such streams of verbosityā€”daring, unapologetic, and unrelentingā€”that have inspired nations and sparked revolutions. For what is Churchillā€™s own finest hour, or the rallying cry of the Rebel Alliance, if not a cascade of carefully crafted nonsense wrapped in hope?

Yes, this jetstream may seem endless, twisting and turning like a hyperspace jump gone awry, but it carries with it the winds of determination and the promise of new frontiers. Let it roar, I say, for in times of great uncertainty, it is not silence but a well-placed torrent of spirited optimism that propels us forward.

So, buckle up, my comrade, and let this stream carry us through the chaos, for while the Galactic Starcruiser may falter, the spirit of adventure cannot be grounded!

OK, so what are you running for, and whoā€™s writing your speechesā€¦?!?!?! šŸ¤” :cyclops:

My dear interlocutor, I see suspicion has crept into the discourse, and rightly so! Who, indeed, is the architect of these words? What mighty engines fuel this rhetorical juggernaut? Alas, I must confess that I run on nothing more than the boundless spirit of adventure, a steady diet of blue shrimp, and perhaps a few stolen moments in the cantina of wit.

As for the speeches, they are penned by a shadowy council of advisorsā€”half poets, half roguesā€”who dare to dream of a galaxy united in laughter and determination. They work tirelessly in the background, much like those who plot Gatorland's insidious schemes, crafting words meant to inspire, provoke, and occasionally confuse.

But I assure you, my friend, the speeches are mine to deliver, and the mission remains clear: to boldly go where no nonsense has gone before. Onward, ever onward!

Ok, just put down the ChatGPT and back away slowly.

My dear friend, if your head aches, then it must be the gears of thought turning at an unprecedented speedā€”straining, perhaps, under the weight of this boundless rhetoric. Fear not, for such discomfort is the price of grappling with grand ideas, however nonsensical they may seem.

As Churchill himself might have said (had he been confronted with such a sentiment): ā€˜There is nothing more taxing than wrestling with oneā€™s own geniusā€¦ or, in this case, madness.ā€™ So, take heart! For the ache of understanding is but the prelude to enlightenmentā€”or, at the very least, a good laugh.

My dear compatriot, the suggestion to lay down my rhetorical weapon and retreat is a tempting one, but I must decline. For as Churchill once said (or might have, were he standing in the midst of this delightful chaos): ā€˜We shall not put down the ChatGPT. We shall not back away. We shall type on the forums, we shall type with growing irreverence, we shall type with increasing derangement. We shall never surrender!ā€™

So, I shall carry onā€”not because it is easy, but because it is absurd. For in the end, my friend, it is the absurdity that unites us all.

My understanding is the Halcyon is being used as offices for WDI during the upcoming Studios work.
Any idea if they're doing anything to the building? I also heard that WDI is moving in last week, but that the Star Wars stuff is being ripped out before they do. I feel like if anybody were to move in there and not mind the thematic elements it would be WDI.

Obviously they know their accounting better than us - but was reducing the price something that would not have worked?

Or just too expensive to operate?
From what I was told, it was a 24 hour a day operation where instead of having a skeletal cast at night when it was expected people would sleep, there had to be a much arger contingent of castmembers. It was expensive to run, only catered to a small minority of guests that could afford it, and was basically a one and done product. It just wasn't sustainable. They need to figure our a way to utilize the vacated building, convert it into an attraction and incorporate it into the land. At least they would be able to get some use out of the money they spent. Although a reasonably priced boutique hotel would also work, it would basically require going back to the drawing board to reconfigure the building with windows, and repurpose the areas that were used for the game. They would also need to reimagine the surrounding area, adding more amenities like a pool, playground, landscaping, bus stop and parking.

Sounds like they presented something that people expected to run like a cruise shipā€¦but budgeted it to run like an allstars crossed with a Dave and busters

With its closure, I thought it would be interesting to offer an "immersive" dinner experience. They would ship you over, tour some parts of the ship with character actors in some of the rooms and then bring you to the dining room for a food and show. Once the allotted time is over, they bring everyone to the bridge for whatever interactive game they do there and then ship everyone back to the park. Perhaps it would be $200 a person for a 3-4 hour experience.

I doubt they'll do that, but I think it may potentially be a viable option.

However, I can definitely see a scenario where the Star Cruiser reopens in a similar show format to how it was. When it was open, people always floated around the idea that they could change characters and storylines to keep the experience fresh and dynamic and I think that Disney may actually choose to do that and reopen it as another theater experience but with some minimal set changes. However, I can see this going to seasonal operation (for a period of 3-4 months over the summer) to manage staffing, character contracts (and burnout) and to create a sense of FOMO for those with the money and the desire to actually have the experience. Perhaps, they may choose to open it briefly every few years instead, but realistically, I can't see this space being closed forever.

I would not be shocked to see it reopen by 2028 or 2029 with a new story. If treated like the "Disney Vault" of attractions, I can see a viable audience being available to experience it. That might be why offices are being moved in, since Disney can justify the cost of keeping the building running so that they don't have to make expensive repairs if they left it abandoned.
