What happened to Adventureland expansion?

Funny DH and I were just talking about The TIki Birds last night! Why when they have something that works do they ruin it?

Like the Mexico ride, even though that was kind of corny before, they made it worse.

Journey to Imagination, I really want this one restored back to it's original!

They semi-ruined POTC by adding Johnny Depp, but I can live with that. most of the ride is the same. I love Johnny Depp but I just don't care to see movie stars on rides, except of course The Great Movie Ride.

Seems other rides could use enhancements or complete make overs.

Agreed, there are times when something should not be touched.... the "heart of the original Tiki Room show" is one of them. Jose Has HIS show Back!

Thankfully though, at least in this instance which is perhaps the dearest to me personally at WDW, things worked out.... yeah there is no fountain, yeah they cut lines out, yeah they shortened the Let's All Sing Like the Birdies song...BUT at least it is there. As for Offenbach, while I like the song in the old soundtrack I can totally understand how that place many people into a sleep so removing appears to have been the correct move.

Lee basically confirmed the mermaids for us, so unless something unforseen happens, that's that. Any ideas as to when that'll be happening?

Are you sure it's mermaids? The referbs aren't always what people think. And why does everyone reduce the Adventureland expansion to a few mods in a few rides? Isn't there room for more out there?

Yeah Lee confirmed this for us, and he's been an excellent (and accurate) source. And the reason that we haven't talked about anything bigger is because
A. FLE. 'Nuff said
B. Frontierland was the big one that was rumored to be up next until Avatar happened.

If I remember correctly, there was a mountain ride of some sort that was once on the table for AL that never materialized. Of the lands, I feel like AL needs the most love at this point. Frontierland has 2 massively popular E-tickets and a few other attractions as well to hold it down. This isn't to discount JC and POTC, but I find AL feeling a bit small and empty lately. I'd be all for another major attraction there.

I actually dont think its a bad idea if done correctly. What I like about the caves in the beginning of the ride is the mystery the atmosphere has. If you keep that feel for the mermaids it could be very cool. As your boat travels you see some signs of them, maybe Davy Jones mentions them, but you never see a full mermaid. When you reach where they are, all you would see is the splash of a few tails and then water trails heading towards the boat. When they reach the boat the wake dives under the boat. Although you would never see them (but a glimpse of a tail) you get a feeling somethings watching/stalking you. I think it could be cool.

The problem with expanding AL is there's no where to put anything google earth magic kingdom if the do end up doing something I thing they should get rid of Swiss family tree they need to reach out to the teenage crowd I actually think with Indian jones coming back out with new movies they could do a adventure roller coaster idk I'm just hoping they step up to the plate

Everything is always on the table. The trick you have to learn is to not make them think, that takes too long; let them choose. If you design and propose three ideas, and they pick the second one, they honestly believe it was their idea. Then you get to build what you wanted to in the first place...

Well...let me clarify. Mermaids were designed and tested for PotC. Of that I am extremely certain.
Whether or not they ever get approved and installed....:shrug:

But, in other Pirates news...be on the lookout for a Pirates walk-through coming to Stage 4 at DHS this summer.;)

As for further expansion in AL....nah. Nothing happening over there at this time.

I'm guessing that is where Narnia was. Couldn't possibly be any worse. Could be fun actually, maybe they will bring the Asian fishing village set over from the last movie.

Do we (well actually you) know what the design of the mermaids are and how they work?
