what ever happened with project gemini?

The Orlando Sentinal is a pretty good source... believeable- more so than Jim Hill, because no one really knows where he gets his information from (he has some good articles, none the less)...

Anyways, they were the first people to release the news about Disney coming to FL... But that was a while ago...

I heard a dumb rumor that disney is being cheap and Sorin over caslifornia will be in the land, instead of a sorrin over the world/echo systems.

How about the planned Junior Autopia. I looked in the area where it is planned and it looks like the ride wont fit.

And I do mean SpaceShip Earth. The one in the giant Golfball.

I was riding it and it kept on going bump over every motor. I felt a little dizzy from that when I came off.

Jim Hill's map is not the official WDI map. Actually, it's a bit outdated, even when it was posted.

There was ride space left INTENTIONALLY between Mission Space and Test Track, according to reports. Not sure if this was additional MS ride space, or possibly something with Gemini. I'm not too sure that Junior Autopia would be put in...but I can really hope not!

Oh, Project Gemini is alive and well.
It's just at that quiet stage where gears are starting to turn internally.

The Junior Autopia is highly unlikely to happen. I understand that I was just sort of thrown in to the plan as sort of an example.

Jim Hill's map is not the actual WDI map, that is true.
However it is a fairly accurate representation of the WDI layout.

Soarin' may in fact be a stand alone attraction, between Land and Seas, and not actually part of Land. That much is still up in the air. It will be coming though.

A ride where one sits on a bench high up from the ground, with feet dangling overlooking a giant IMAX film.

Horizons being closed and replaced didn't seem to have to do with Gemini technically.

Discoveryland will be the replacement for Future World on October 1st, 2007 (basically a name, attraction, and atmosphere change).

Look for Wonders of Life, The Land, and the Living Seas to have extensive rehab or closure before 2006.

Time Racers is the possible replacement for Spaceship Earth. This new ride would feature screen technology and open in 2007 while SE goes down in February, 2005.

Yes, Gemini is 1 billion dollars.

WDI = Walt Disney Imagineering
Jim Hill's Map = search for "Gemini Revelead" and it should send you to a site with a link to it.

Whoever said they wanted more dark rides like HM or ToT (sorry, the thread is too long for me to see who it was), I'm not sure that I agree with that. Part of the beauty of Epcot is that, for the most part, it has rides that appeal to everyone. Only the 2 newest rides have height restrictions. (well, and maybe Body Wars) Everything else is available for everyone of all ages, and also handicap accessible. While I know it is necessary to compete with Universal for thrill rides, I just don't think that Epcot is the place to do it. My mom won't go on Test Track and I know I'll never get her on M:S. Already 2 things we can't go on as a family. Epcot has always seemed to be more of a place of discovery--not thrills.

MAN! Thanks grizzlyhall!! Killed 50 birds with one shot. If you were someone else they would have anwsered only one questions and I would probably be in this tread for like a week. Trying to figure out everything else.

Altho you missed one questions tho.

pavilions going down within the next year for major rehab( does this mean Rides? )
Which pavilions? the older ones?

So Project Gimini is just a fancy name for "Epcot is going down for Rehab?"

:hammer: :D

Epcot needs this.

There are rumors - STRICTLY RUMORS - of an inverted rainforest coaster and the #3 mod to epcot. Although nobody I've talked with has heard anything.

No one has any sense of the proposed scope. I'd be okay with just installing Soarin Over, Rehab of Life & Living seas and adding some trees. Just dont F up SE.

Here's the deal: we don't know much of this for sure. That's because WDI hasn't come out publically to announce Project: Gemini. However, when that time comes, all hopes for guest concern is pretty much shattered.

When Horizons was closing, we had no majorly SPECIFIC idea of what Mission Space was about. Nor the same with Imagination.

However, we have always had hints along the way (i.e. Pooh replacing Toad without any formal announcement).

As the rumors stand right now, and they ARE filtering, this seems to be the plan:

1) FINDING NEMO exhibits will be placed in the Living Seas SOMEHOW. Be it a total rehab, or a new section.

2) THE LAND will undergo EXTREME changes. This has been reported by several sources - from different people. Included in the plans are a Soarin' attraction AND a type of Roller Coaster. The target age of Gemini is 18, so this makes sense - well, in a way... . Therefore, attractions in the Land MAY be gutted to accommodate these - rest assured the Greenhouse would not be going anywhere, nor would the Sunshine Season Food Fair (as far as it is heard).

3) WONDERS OF LIFE - there are a few ideas going around about what's going on here. However, three major sources (one of them being Jim Hill, who has actually been agreeing with the other sources who are pretty much out of contact with him) are reporting it will be shut down ala JII Image Works/Timekeeper for lounge and convention space. Furthermore, guidebooks are reporting this attraction to be closed soon. Why? The Imagineers frankly don't want to keep updating (hence why they are renaming FUTURE WORLD) - along with frivilous "problems" with MetLife. There is one small rumor going around that another insurance agency will sponsor it, but I haven't heard it anywhere else. Can someone say "20K", "Skyway", or "Horizons"? I would hope they could make it seasonal if anything...

Those are the main three things that seem to be most definite, after name changing. SSE would most likely be closing after these attractions do (if they close) if it becomes Time Racers.

My advice to you is to write Disney AND AT&T as far as Spaceship Earth goes. Show them you care - AT&T has signed on for a few more months - and it's THEM who may just kill Time Racers if they can remain the sponsor!

I can bet you this: "We have no plans to change Spaceship Earth at this time." Oh, doesn't that sound familiar? "We have no plans to close the Journey into Imagination!" :p

Parts of gemini sound really cool to me while others dont sound so great. Soarin and Time Racers sound great as well as a Living Seas and Life makeover.

I dont like the idea of a rain forest coaster or Junior Autopia. One of the things I've always liked about Epcot is that all of the rides(except TT) are completely enclosed. For me this gives them some mystique. I would hate to see a roller coaster standing in the middle of epcot. I know wdi doesnt just put up cookie cutter coasters but the idea still sounds wrong to me. Junior Autopia seems like a waste of space with a similar attraction just a park away.

Having said all that I feel the need to say that I realize this is all just speculation seeing as we havent heard anything official from disney.
