What do you do against WDW-homesickness?

We are back from Florida since last thursday. We have left the World however already more than two weeks ago after the longest stay at WDW so far (12 days if you count the arrival day and the departure day as we left DD at 6.00 pm to head to Ft. Myers finally). And I am deeply depressed and homesick about WDW since we returned and it becomes worse every day, it doesn't get any better by the time so far. I try everything to heal it, I hear music from the World all day long (not really difficult with now more than 200 WDW-related MP3s, including a lot of BGMs which run for an hour or more). I cook American food, at least I try to because a lot we ate at the parks and resorts (TONGA TOAST!) or bought at Winn-Dixie or Publix is of course unavailable in Berlin. And I watch my WDW-Vacation movie on my TV set, the biggest help at the moment. After I made the first rough cut its 9 hrs. 50 min. long! It's only WDW and it includes all rides we did, all parades, wishes and our resorts. It is a real big help, I wouldn't know what I would do without this home movie because at least for a few hours we can go "home".(I also have another WDW-home movie from 2007 thats 7 hrs. and one from 1991 that is only 90 minutes but includes Horizons, Wonders of Life and other long gone attractions) I visit WDWmagic every day and stay for hours (a big help btw). We also look at our more than 1500 pictures we shot at the world. I plan to do some polynesian-inspired changes in our apartment and we are actually already planning our next visit (absolutely insane). We do everything to cope with our WDW-withdrawal shock. I know we are a little insane but I don't care.
What do you do when you are back home and you miss the World?

We have nearly 2 decades worth of WDW planning videos. Popping one of those in (the older, the better) cures my disney blues, if only for a short while.

I love to watch the promotional videos that Disney sends out, as well as browse Flickr for pretty photos of the parks. These forums do a lot for my WDW yearnings, too, since I'm constantly learning new things about the parks. I feel well-informed and part of the magic while here. C:

That's why I'm here!

With no trip planned, and only a potential one in 2012.. I hang out here, keep up on Twitter, and look at Flickr (a lot of the member's here have some amazing photos) to brighten up my day!

Also, old Disney trip pictures help a lot.. if not with a tinge of sadness.

Youtube for park videos. This forum and others for pictures and reports/news. Then, I also listen to Sorcerer Radio for music feeds from the parks.

we do all of the above. these message boards help ALOT. especially the picture of the day. i also love wearing my disney tshirts when i can and use these boards for recipes to recreate at home. i can't imagine how you get through it living as far away as you do. we're less than 3 hours north of wdw and still get the blues the moment we leave.

These boards (especially Trip Reports) as well as YouTube videos and going through my "disney box" of old issues of Celebration magazine, old maps for the parks, etc...

Also the planning of other trips. I am possibly going next year in either May or September (if not both) so it helps to browse menus of places I want to eat and to plan out days. Even if the trips don't happen it's fun planning to keep me from going insane with Disney fever!!

You could always move to Florida! Thats what we did, at least I like to think it was because of WDW, my GF may have something different to say though!.

Mickey2008.1 - the website is actually called 'eyes on ears' thats what they were referring to.

That is a little more daunting task for someone who is not an US-citizen, because it means emigrating to the USA. It's a difference if you move from Chicago or even Seattle to Florida or from Berlin. And I have to confess I couldn't live in Florida permanently, the summer weather would be unbearable to me (even with air conditioning everywhere) and I would miss the winter with the snow during christmas.

I just start planning for the next trip and I love keeping up with news and forums between trips. Maybe you saw there is some big announcement today at 12:45 pm ET - should be interesting. Also since you are in Europe have you had a chance to visit the Paris park?

I linger here longer than I should. I talk Disney with my other Disney maniac friends. I plan trips that sometimes come to fruition.

The worst is my Disney perfume. I bought a scent that I thought smelled like vacation and I wear it everyday I'm in WDW. When I'm at home I put it on and it takes me a little closer to being in Florida. Best of all my family will walk by and notice that I "smell like Disney". Strange but true.

Hockey season starting up really helps me pass the time and keeps my mind of WDW..but planning our next trip aslo keeps me grounded and give me something to look forward to.

Hello Spike,
You live in such a beautiful country, and you are surrounded by other beautiful nations. It's strange, in a way, to hear you say that you need diversions to keep your mind off of WDW. I would love to visit your area of Europe again.
Regardless, I would imagine that doing "tourist" type of things would certainly help you to take your focus away from Disney. Travel throughout Germany and the surrounding nations, and enjoy all of the interesting things that they have to offer.

I can only imagine how you feel. We are there at least 4 times a year and I still get homesick. We do things like hang out with other DVC member friends and visit these boards, and have done some Disney decorating in our home etc.

It is also fun to research and plan new interesting things you can do on your next trip.

I would see if there are other people in your area who are as into Disney as you are. Might be fun to start a local Facebook group or something and you can all get together.
