I don't go crazy for the characters, but seeing my sister's 21 year old face light up when she sees Dopey makes it worth it. :p

Hi, I love it and get caught up in the moment with my kids, they are 5 and have however started to ask why Mickey and Minnie don't speak and why is their face hard and "sort of plastic", what do I say?!!:ROFLOL::zipit::ROFLOL:I just sort of brush it off and we go off and do something else magical, but their wee minds are ticking away and I don't want them to lose the magic.

Yes
I get weepy when I see Mickey and Goofy!!

I used to work @ MK so I've seen my fair share of characters with their heads off, but they're still 'real' to me when I'm on vacation!

Is'nt it sad? My girls ask questions about this very same thing...And I try to divert them....The first time was last year and my oldest , then 7 said "mama, I felt the zipper on pluto's back when I hugged him".....Yes I smiled and said "keep you mouth quiet your sister is right here"!!(she was 4 at the time)

And after that my oldest had asked questions about people being in the costumes...I quess what can you do , I cried, I wanted her to believe for a little bit longer I guess...But she never said anything to her little sister, and still gets very qxcited about seeing her fav characters...
Please I see Cinderella and I flip out, I love the "face" characters..Especially when there is good interacting...Although A few years ago my little one was rolling around on the floor with rafiki at AK (at Rifiki's planet watch) ..We were about the only ones in there and he played with my little one for a good 5-10min....Got the whole thing on video... Or the one year one of our girls was dressed as Cinderella and went to see Chip and Dale in toon town and they picked her up and brought her to see Cinderella, Oh I love good chracters interaction!
Then you have the characters that are there take pic and next!!!! We try especilly if there are alot of people to move on quickly....

Oh I believe, last year I almost ran over a kid to see Jiminny Cricket, hay he's a rare find, and I lovvvve him!

I try to figure out if its a girl or a guy. (Micky made kissy sound once when I hugged him). I think of them as the character they portray and think how in the world do they tolerate the heat in those costumes! They all do such a wonderful job of portraying our favorite charactors. :)

I always look forward to seeing characters. It's all in what you make of it. But I do wonder how hot the person inside must be and how do they see out of them.

To be honest with you since I was good friends with some characters of the "looney" variety. It's a great feeling to be recoginized by who you portayed and if you stick to the personality of the character it makes it even better for everyone you meet.

I went on a trip in 1989, with my wife mind you. She took probably 5 to 10 photos of me posing with different versions of Minnie Mouse. We then took a photo of a beautiful blonde girl walking along the beach at the Polynesian. When we went home we told my friend the girl had been in the Minnie costume and that is why I had so many photos taken with her.

I know that I'm going to be "hated on" because of this, but I don't really like the characters. It's the concept. It's corny. If I remember correctly, it was John Lasseter that was recently quoted saying, "... a six foot tall Remy is just wrong." I completely agree. I am an avid supporter of the Living Character Initiative program. I think that once perfected, that that'd be indescribably incredible.

On a side note, when I actually see the characters, I initially wonder if it's a girl, or a guy. :veryconfu

If the character has nobody greeting them (this is when I go get picturers or with a very short line for the most part) I do think about is that a girl as a guy character ect. but this happens after I have fun getting my pciture with them & walk away. They ARE that character to me in every sense during that interaction time I have with them. The only difference is face characters. When you go to the parks a lot you end up having favorites in certain roles either a) because they look like the character the most or b) the way they interact with guests it just happens this way. In no way am I saying there is a bad face character but even though its a very adult mind set we sometimes look at a character & think to ourselfs they really don't look like their role. I try my best to look over this because the interaction & how they act is 100X more important then if they look a little "off" because the interaction is what creates the magic.
