What did you do?

Back from Disney! Had a wonderful trip, and flew out just before the storms on Sunday. Didn't do any running while there, but according to DH's Fitbit, we walked 45 miles during our trip. Thank goodness too because we ate like there was no tomorrow! LOL. Hit the TM at home yesterday for what would have been 4 miles on my old TM but still isn't feeling right on the new one. I think I'm going to have to do my new TM workouts based on time and perceived effort. Stinks because I had all the settings figured out for various speed workouts and now they're totally off. Anyway, still on a Disney high so all's good. :)

@LAKid53 - Yikes, doesn't sound like you had a good week! Glad to hear you weathered the storms ok (sorry, i just couldn't resist the pun!) and i hope you feeling better - I've had co-workers who have had that intestinal flu and they were down for the count for quite some time. It's been VERY cold here so I'm happy that my next race is in May, because there is only so much time I have free to spend on the treadmill before I need to get home but 30 to 35 minutes is an ok maintenance time for me at the moment.

Been gone from here for a while. After my first and perhaps only half in November my knee started hurting. Tried rest and no help. Took all of December off and still no good so I went to the sports medicine doc. Apparently it is IT band friction. I started PT which is a real pain but the good thing is I am actually getting better. My last three runs have been gradually improving. I'm supposed to stop as soon as I have any pain so I only made it a half mile today.

Anyone else ever have this? How long did it take to get better.

Anyway, I'm hoping to keep improving and eventually get back. And in good news a little over two months until my first ever DL trip!!

First serious run in almost two weeks since bruising my ribs. This is the longest I have ever gone without running since I started this thing.

Did about a 9:30 pace for 6 miles, easing back in. Hopefully I won't take a step back. I tried to run too soon, and it set my injury back.

But I have the Princess in three weeks.

IT band issues are pretty common in runners, or so my PT told me. I had something a few years ago that they thought might have been IT band, and focused the treatment mostly on the area on the outer thigh just above the knee, and the hip joint. Most of mine was focused on stretching/strengthening those two areas. Definitely wasn't as serious as yours sounds, I ran a few halfs during PT. I still get occasional pain, but I find that alot of it is definitely due to tightness in my legs, and is usually either resolved immediately by refocusing and correcting my stride/gait, or by switching to cross training for a day or two while stretching. Think I was in PT for a few months once or twice a week. Just listen to what they say and don't push it and you should be fine.

Thanks, it is definitely better than it was. But seems to be somewhat nagging. If nothing else I will hear sting thighs and glutes when I'm done. And less running means I'm focusing more on weights and stuff for now. Maybe I come out of this stronger.

Can't remember when I last posted. Last week was 4 and 3.5 and 7. Last night another 4 on TM. I'm not happy with my TM. Aside from the weird pace issue and the fact that I still feel like I'm running on a slight inclination all the time (maybe I'll put a TM mat under the back legs only?), it's annoying me that there's no hundredths position on the distance. I used to like to see that counter increase as I was running, but now I have to wait a full tenth of a mile for it to go up. Silly little thing I didn't think to look for when buying. Sigh. I want my old TM back.

@JillC LI - That's not silly at all - I too like to see the counter increase when I'm on the treadmill and since all the ones I have run on have had the hundredths position I wouldn't have thought it came any other way. Any possibility to exchange it for a different model?

3.1 on TM last night. I found a way to loosen two screws under the back of the new TM belt to raise the rear feet about a 1/4" which seems to help with the feeling I was constantly running on an incline. Now if I could just get the pace to feel right. The time and effort I put in on last night's 3.1 miler was the same as I used to put in to accomplish 3.5 miles in the same amount of time. Argh.

First full Dark Side week. T-3, W-3, Th-3, 4 this morning, sunny with a 30F wind chill. The uphills in the wind were a challenge but my time was not bad.
