On the morning of my birthday Tuesday -- turned the big 4-4, though a lot of friends and coworkers say I look in my mid-30s -- decided to put in 4.4 miles. Only got to just about 4 miles in the hazy heat and 100-percent humidity in Downtown Memphis. Wanted to run at 9:30am when it was a "bearable" 79-80 but did not start my run until after 10:15am. Paid for it as it was over 85 and by the time I finished around 11:15am it was 88 going on 89. At least there was a strong southerly wind, but it was a hot wind.
*Note to self, start doing your half marathon training in the evening or after 11pm - midnight like you used to do to run in the coolest part of the day (upper 70s, low 80s).
