Back from our trip! It was wonderful. Iceland is such a cool place to visit and I highly recommend it to anyone who has a chance to go. Check out Icelandic Mountain Guides for different trips and adventures. They were awesome! Anyway...I didn't get a chance to run. We were too busy trying to fit everything in that we wanted to do. On our last day, we could have run but we had a bad ice/snow/windstorm that morning. Back to the grind now and plan to do at least 4 miles today. I am thinking about writing a trip report in the chit chat section of the boards if anyone is interested.

16.1 miles this morning at 9:30 pace. I found a neighborhood in town thanks to my aunt that was decent to run in. It had some hills, but not as many or as steep as I'm used to which is how I got such a good pace. I was planning to run 24 this morning but I forgot to bring some peanut butter to eat before my run and I could feel myself dragging and my blood sugar starting to drop so I cut it short.

I said it on FB and Ill say it here. HOLY COW. That is awesome. 230 laps... that is crazy. Your daughter swam 185 more laps than my best day in the pool and i know how hard 35 laps is. WOAH. So impressed. Congrats to her. Now go order the biggest cheeseburger ever.

Thanks Joel. She definitely had a big dinner afterwards!

Welcome back @Kristia. What was your favorite part of the trip?

Just did 7 miles. Was hoping it would be warmer already but it was only 36.

Great pictures. That's something I would like to do someday. My father was stationed there with the Air Force and hated every minute of it. He doesn't like the cold. :D

@JillC LI - My favorite part? That is a tough one. My husband asked me the same question! I loved the horseback riding which was a bit faster pace than doing it in the states with "hack" horses but we did have to go a bit slower due to a mixed group experience wise. If we had more time, we could have rode in the afternoon with the experienced group but we had another tour to go to.

I think my favorite part was going on the tour "Golden Circle and Magical Nights" with Icelandic Mountain Guides. I think they keep their tours relatively small and they had a couple cancels for our tour so we ended up with Dan, me and another man from Florida plus 2 tour guides (one was in training). We went to see one of the National Parks, the largest waterfall in Iceland, and a couple famous geysers. After sightseeing, we went to a spa with hot pools and saunas. After the saunas, we went to dinner at a restaurant next to the spa. Finally we looked for the Northern Lights on the way home. Our guide was able to find some dim lights. The weather was snowy and the skies were cloudy so we were amazed to see any at all. We were such a small group and everyone was so nice, it felt like we were among friends. We got a lot of insight into Iceland talking to the guides and they were quite open, funny and personable. I was amazed on our last day when Dan said "Maybe we should come back here next year for our 20th rather than Disney." Wow! He can be more of a Disney nut than me! That is how good this trip was!

@Texas84 - Thank you! It was wonderful there. And actually warmer than NJ at the time we were there! I do want to go back in the warmer weather though. It looks beautiful there in the summer!

26 miles in the books today at Oak Mountain. Great run and kept average pace around 11. We wanted it to be 12, but time wouldnt allow so we had to speed up our plan (family plans etc). You can see the double back... and if I hadnt done that, I would have gone straight to connect to 2 additional trail systems. I would have at least touched all the different trails in one day. Look at this map.

20 tomorrow. 87 miles in 9 days. Im almost ready for Lake Martin.

Time to lube the joints. Beer time.

20 Miles last night. I treated this run like it was the last 20 miles of my 50. It was one of the best mental training jobs I have ever had. I was extremely tired, I had worked in the yard all day yesterday, played with the kids making sure I was good and tired starting this run. Did I avoid the hills? Nope, did about 1,600vert... and considering the terrain, I had to do hill repeats to get to that number.

9:45 pace over 20, and negative split it. Could have kept going to 30 too. Legs feel really good this morning considering.

@JillC LI .... I gave myself that beer when I got home and showered. It is pretty amazing when I think about what I have accomplished and conditioned my body to do in the last 11 months. Still so much to do, but it is always nice and encouraging to see results from hard work.

@Mr mom Thanks. It has been a fun journey the last 4 months. Logged a new weekly high and 87 miles over 8 days.

I didn't run again this morning. My knee was bugging me all night and I noticed it was a little swollen before bed, I figured with two weeks to go before the big race I shouldn't be pushing it. I think I should be good to go tomorrow morning.

Hey everyone! I'm Kristia's husband and just joined the forum. Kristy tells me many people often ask medically related question such as strains, muscle spasms, and conditions of the like that disrupt running workouts and competitions. I am a physical therapist and would be more than happy to help anyone that may have a concern. Have great workouts, folks!
Welcome to the board!

Did 4.5 miles today. Loving the spring-like weather. It was a nice 55 degrees for my run today!

Me too! It was so beautiful out today for my 4 miles.

Hi all! Just got back from a nice Caribbean vacation on Saturday. Got two runs in while staying in San Juan, which was a great way to explore the place before everything opened up in the morning. I even convinced my non-running husband and friends to join me the second day into Old San Juan (see pictures below). I ran twice on the treadmill the following week while cruising getting 10x400 @5k pace in one day and 5 miles at half marathon pace the other time.

Yesterday was 4 easy miles - a nice way to get reacquainted with the pavement and I apparently brought the good weather back with me as I was able to bust out the shorts for my run for the first time in forever. Too bad its dropping back to the 20s in two days...
