Wednesday night was Inasnity Cardio Power and Resistance, with lots of sweat as usual.

Yesterday was a crazy work/youth baseball day. We were at the ball park until 9:45 for a 10 year old game.

This morning was 3 miles with a few rolling hills around town. Very nice cool, dry weather, although my quads were still a little heavy from my work with Shaun T on Wednesday night.

I ran my first 5K race last night!

37:32, a 12:05 pace, which put me right in the middle of my age group. Considering that I only got halfway through the C25K program, I didn't know what to expect of myself. I'm proud that I ran the entire first mile without walking. In fact, I ran a lot more of it than I thought I would. Somehow running a course through the streets was a lot easier (can that be the right word?) than the 1/3 mile loop that I've been training on.

Thanks, everyone, for all your support, advice and encouragement!

I think I'm gonna go sign up for the Happy Haunted 5K Trail Run, since I've got a trip to WDW planned for that weekend! :king:

How do you like insanity so far? I'm starting it on Monday for the first time to switch up my exercise routine.

OK, I signed up for my first ever trail run. A 15K in Jackson GA. I hear it is a beautiful course through a Georgia forest. Hope I don't trip and kill myself. I'm signed up for DL, ToT, W&D, and the 20th Marathon. Big bucks at stake! :D

Went to the doc this morning and he poked around my knee and wasn't too concerned. I told him sometimes it gives out arouind 9-10 miles and he gave me a funny look like, "Are you nuts?" But he said call him if it gets worse and he'll send me to a specialist.

Cool on the trail run. Good luck with the knee.

Congratulations! And next time you'll run even more of it! Stick with the good work!

Had to get up at 4:45am today to get my son off on a school trip to Great Adventure. Figured I was up already so I ran 4 miles on the TM even though I was operating on only 3 hours sleep. I'm awake now but I'm sure I'll crash later.

Congrats! I was so pumped for my first Disney 5K I ran it too fast and it was over too quickly. So my advice, as always, slow down a bit and have fun!

It feels like a month since Ive been in here, but I think it has only been a few days. Finally moved in. Yesterday was a 5:30am watch the ISS fly over, then head to new house. PODS delivered at 6:55am. Unloaded the entire 16ft. thing by 3pm. Needless to say, im incredibly sore all over. Mack truck hit me sore.

Just thought Id stop in and say hello since our DSL got hooked up.
Once you go trail, you'll never go back to, asphalt :lookaroun
I found out there is a trail head behind my neighborhood that has 5 miles of trails. There is a trailhead 2 miles down the road that is a 2 mile trail. I love living in the suburban "country". Woods galore.

After a few off weeks, finally got back to my Thursday night ritual.
3 miles on the treadmill,
1 hour of weights
1/2 hour of core.

YESSSSS! Love it!
Im starting Monday morning. Im going to start a running P90X combo. It shall be interesting.

Officially started marathon training today. Only had to do 4 miles on the Galloway plan. Felt like bleh but got stronger at the end. Feel good now. Going out to cut the grass.

First trail run in 2 weeks. My running buddies tell me I don't need trail shoes for this one.

Finally got back to running today. I haven't run since the Broad Street 10 miler 2 weeks ago. 5.8 miles - 11:35 pace, which is really slow for us. I decided that my hubbie and I are going to try the Galloway plan for the Goofy Challenge. We did the marathon back in 2011 and had a tough last 3 miles. We had made a game day decision back then to walk a minute each mile. Now we decided to actually train that way and see how we do. Today was an experiment to see how much slower it made us. I don't think we were slower from the walk a min each mile. We are just outta shape! No more skimping on the runs from now till Goofy!

Finished the Cleveland Half Marathon today in 2 hrs 43 min. I'm a little bummed that I missed my PR by 4 min, but then again I didn't hurt myself or had to be carried off by paramedics for heat exhaustion like I saw multiple times to others. One of the finish line goodies was a popsicle and nothing has tasted better in my life.

I watched the news today and saw the Green Bay marathon was cut short due to temps near 90, which is very hot for Wisconsin this time of year.

They started pulling runners off the course at mile 20.

Awesome job! :sohappy: Seriously, congrats on making it through. Really tough race today. I thought about you and GoofyRacer11 this morning...we should have tried to meet up.

Okay, so obviously I also ran the Cleveland Half this morning (my second year in a row running this race). As Mad Stich said, it was HOT. I think it was mid-low 60s at the start, and when I finished it was in the low 80s. Last year it was cool and misting out, which I hated at the time, but now I realize how nice that really was. I was simultaneously thrilled and concerned at split point (mile 12ish) for the half and the full...thrilled I wasn't running the full and really concerned for those that were. I saw 2 guys carried off the course on stretchers and probably 3-5 ambulances actually ON the course, I'm assuming trying to get to people. :( This was by far the most difficult race I've run so far (it was my 4th half), and I think that was due entirely to the conditions.

So onto happier things...loved being able to use Cleveland Browns stadium again before and after the race (real bathrooms!), fantastic volunteers and course support - better than last year, because of the weather I'm sure - and love the medal, obviously. :D The best part was that my mom was a volunteer at the finish line - her job was to escort the male 10K and female marathon winners to get their official photos/do their interviews - so she saw me finish and gave me my medal! Very cool.

My time last year - also my now old PR - was 2:34:53...this year's time was 2:18:56. :sohappy: I think I could've come in closer to 2:10 if not for the heat, but considering the conditions, I'm pretty happy with it. It's still a new PR for me. :) I'm pretty sure I want to try the full next year, but we'll see! I definitely want to do the half again, if nothing else.

Congrats to you too Shannon! My 5 mile run today was hot too. I should have gone at 6am but I decided to sleep till 8. That was a mistake!

Thanks all. Congrats on the PR Ariel. I know it wasn't easy in that heat.

Congratulations Mad Stitch and Ariel 484! Yea we should have gotten together. Maybe we can get together for a run through the metroparks
sometime.

So for those who haven't figured it out yet, I ran the Cleveland Half-Marathon as well! I finished in 1:39:08, which I wasn't really going
for a PR since I have to defend my title in 1 1/2 weeks, but I figured I would
finish between 1:40 and 1:45 so I was happy with my time. I know that a lot of people had problems with the heat today, but thankfully I wasn't one of them. I haven't ran a race where I was affected by heat, but I'm sure I have a breaking point. I want to wish the people who suffered from heat exhaustion a speedy recovery. When we were walking back to our car, we saw 5 EMS squads rushing to runners.

It surprised me how many people who had already finished and spectators would walk right in the middle of the race course when runners were still trying to finish. If your watching runners or have already ran the course, use the sidewalks/pathways that are meant for you.

You dont. I have trail shoes and they have thinner and more shallow trend than my street shoes. Weird.

Congrats to everyone who had races over the weekend. Always good to see some new bling. Never good to hear about races being canned due to heat. I seems to be a growing trend of late unfortunately. Glad to hear everyone finished intact.

Sat was 9 mi of negative splits. Sun was 9 miles on the TM, and then 7 on the bike. Thankfully no real pain from my knee which was my biggest goal.
