What did you do?

Funny I was in Boston and ran 4:34 miles on Sunday morning in the Seaport area. It was really a fun run. I was out the door from my hotel in the seaport at 7:00am, and ran to the edge of the North End before heading back. Since it was as early as it was I ran through Fanueil Hall. On the way back I ran the Harbor walk.

Higdon Dopey getting real.

16 miles today but the weather was perfect! 48 at start, 57 at finish. Not hurting at all but I think I'll go soak in the tub anyway. Dropped about 15 pounds since I started Higdon Dopey and I'm having trouble keeping my pants up. TMI, I know.

Tue - 4 miles
Wed - 7 miles
Thu - 4 miles
Sat - 6 miles
Sun - 16 miles
Total - 37 miles for the week

5.19 miles last night. A very steady run, but in a weird way. My first & third miles were the exact same pace as my second and fourth miles were. My fifth was actually the fastest, but I had a bit of downhill at near the end. I walked the .19 as a cool down.

Ran 4.27 miles on the track last night. Overall my watch says my pace was 14.13 as I walked between strides. Some of them were
under an 11:00 pace. Not back, I just cannot seem to get my regular stride back. The knee is still not quite right.

4.18 miles last night. A descent week. Looking to do a 10 plus long run on Sunday. Unfortunately with travel time from
work I get out on the road at about 5:20pm. Pretty soon it will be dark by the time I finish and soon after dark when I start.
Time for the headlamp.

Haven’t updated this thread in a while. So as we approach my first race weekend of this training plan I feel now is a good time to post. A lot has happened since the last post so without further ado here goes.

Marathon Weekend Galloway Training Week 4:

9/28 - 3.02 miles
9/30 - 3.25 miles
10/2 - 5.04 miles

Marathon Weekend Galloway Training Week 5:

10/5 - 2.54 miles (treadmill)

I then was sick for the rest of the week unable to run.

Marathon Weekend Galloway Training Week 6:

10/14 - 2.57 miles (treadmill)
10/16 - 6.56 miles

Marathon Weekend Galloway Training Week 7:

10/19 - 2.61 miles (treadmill)
10/21 - 3.47 miles
10/23 - 2.66 miles

This now takes us into week 8 of training. This is significant because, as I stated above this marks the first race weekend of this training program. I am participating in Wine & Dine this year once again virtually. Just like last year, I am only running the 10K. Since the training plan is arranged in such a way it seems wise to run my race this weekend instead of the following. As this would go against next weeks “rest week”. So that being said I plan on running my Wine & Dine 10K this upcoming weekend. I feel that I am ready to take on a 10K distance. I haven’t run a official race 10K since the rival run. I have done plenty of training runs as I have documented just not an race.

A couple of housekeeping items I wanted to throw in here while I’m already writing this post. I have signed up for the Princess half marathon virtually this year. The prime reason for doing this outside of wanting more medals is to keep me motivated and training for the springtime surprise weekend. Which I am pleased to say is looking like it will be my first LIVE runDisney race. Right now my current training plan ends at marathon weekend and a new accelerated plan picks up right after. This accelerated training plan still Galloway Method (similar to last year’s) takes me though princess weekend and ensures I am ready to run a challenge during Springtime Surprise.

Right now, I am hoping the Springtime Surprise features a challenge and doesn’t feature a distance over a half marathon. As this would go against the current training strategy I have. Admittedly, I don’t think I want to run a marathon yet as my first LIVE runDisney race. If it does end up being a marathon (as a certain leak has indicated) I could reevaluate my strategy to accommodate a marathon distance. If I decide to partake of course, a marathon is a lot to ask so not sure if I would be fully on board for that. Would have to see if the theming and my group could sway me. I’d doubt it would be just a marathon though as it seems like (but not confirmed) this will be like a normal race weekend and have three races of some description. Anyways, their is my long winded plan. I will continue to update as more news and my plans as a reaction shift.

Easy Higdon week. 10 miles Saturday and golf Sunday. Absolutely perfect weather Saturday and my pace was the fastest on the hills this year. This week starts the 'mini-Dopeys' with Fri-Sat-Sun runs.

Tues - 4 miles
Wed - 7 miles
Thu - 4 miles
Sat - 10 miles

And all the Halloween stuff is getting creepy at 0600 with a full moon. Our neighborhood is really getting into it this year.
