Got in a quick 1.75 miles this afternoon. Weather is hopefully changing and we’re supposed to get rain off and on over the next several days - and we really need it here. It hasn’t rained since early March.

This morning's sunrise looked just like that fake sunset at the night time AK safari. Must be the continued low humidity. I'm going to miss the sunrise runs when I have to go back to the office. And I beat my last run by 33 seconds.

I decided to do my last lingering virtual I had hanging out there today. The first race I had get covid-cancelled in March was the Vulcan Quarry Crusher (I was signed up for the Triple), it was before businesses were locked down, so they still gave out packets and medals despite not having the race and deferred everybody to next year.

For some reason, they won’t let me in the quarry to jog this one out, so decided 13.1 on a 79 degree day with just a 16oz water bottle would be a reasonable trade off for going up and down the quarry for 12 miles on a cold day with lots of water and went out to earn that medal!

Now, I don’t usually stop for photos of characters during a race, but couldn’t resist these two:

Beautiful day on the river trail (as long as you watched your step!)

Finished 2:18:34, with walking 2-2.5 miles of it, felt really good about the time. As you can see, my pace averaged 10:34/mile, but I really pushed it for a moment in the middle:

A respectable 109.09mph surge there. 😉

Medal earned!

You STOPPED to take a photo of a copperhead?!!! I'd have turned around and ran the other way. Brave man.

Congrats on the medal.

Are you sure? I killed a baby cottonmouth a few weeks ago that had decided to take up residence in my garage and was curious about what I was planting....

RoundUp doesn't kill snakes, no matter how much you spray them. But the shovel worked quite well.

Okay, ran a bit over 4.5 miles yesterday and then 7.5 miles this morning. It was pretty nice this morning, actually ran in shorts
and short sleeves. It has been a while since I have been able to do that on a morning run.
