The saga of my training for W&D.
Finally got in a run today - 3.6 miles. Actually was more walking as there's a lot of debris along the sides of the roads in my neighborhood from the hurricane, making running a bit dicey. Every home has either a tree(s) down or ones leaning and ready to fall. About 20% have blue tarps on the roofs. My neighbor had 4 trees come down - 3 on his roof and one on his deck that also fell into his pool - he'd just redone his backyard. Tree companies are still around, taking down trees, making running an obstacle course.
In addition to the interruption from the hurricane, my feet and ankles swelled during our cruise last week. To the point I could barely get my flip flops on and had to forgo the Castaway Cay 5k as I couldn't get my feet into my running shoes. Plus, while clearing my yard of debris, I managed to get into some poison ivy and had spots on both legs, the worst was on the back of my left leg, right above my shoe.
I've not trained for W&D like I wanted, so will probably end up walking at least half of the Half and will definitely walk the 5k, as I want to concentrate on the 10k. Longest distance run to date is 6 miles.
