I had to reply! Great job on your weight loss and even more, your personal triumph! I just moved away from Mobile, AL, where we lived for 5 years. We love it there and still own our house way out west(not far from Hutchens Elementary School). Anyway, I'd say purchase something to commemorate the event. Can you still buy one of those little tiles at the entrance of EPCOT? Definitely get a pin too. Other than that, maybe go parasailing?? Whatever you do, I'm sure this trip will be a special one. Congrats!! :sohappy:
My son goes to Hutchens!! We live in The Oaks at Westlake which is the last subdivision after Hutchens! Sounds like you were VERY close to me! We built out house in 2007 and moved in New Year's Eve. LOVE it out here!

I forgot about those tiles! I need to look into that!!! GREAT IDEA!

I don't have anything specific to add; there really are so many ways you can enjoy the parks and resorts more now, embrace all the ways (even things as seemingly insignificant as a morning run around the resort can end up being a huge memory). At the same time, do remember to relax and reward yourself a bit; you are on vacation, after all. I work out 5-6 days a week and typically avoid caffeine, desserts, etc., but when I am at the 'World, I indulge in it all! (maybe not the best of advice, so feel free to ignore me...!).

A big congratulations to you for your success so far. Keep up the great work!

For me indulging will mean having sugar free deserts, a few adult beverages, and possibly eating a few thigs that wouldn't fall into the healthy category at meals. But I figure we will walk so much, and i plan to jog at the resort in the mornings so it will be okay! :D

That just sounds wonderful it itself! Be sure to get up early one day and watch the sunrise! A great memory!

Yep, I know where you live! We lived in Plantation West, another Adams Homes subdivision. I'm an avid runner and I used to run down to Westlake. I guess Hutchens #2 is probably almost finished being built by now, huh? The Coast Guard transferred us to Oregon. We like it here, but it's cold and of course, far from WDW. We hit up Disneyland on our way up but imo, it wasn't as magical of an experience as it is with WDW, having 40 sq miles of property to "get away from it all" on. Anyway, sorry to get off track a bit!

Hi there and Congrats on the new Healther you...being healther is more important than being small, your health is the most important thing as I am sure your husband would agree he wants you around as long as he can.
Anyway I think what you and hubby should do is go to the Poly Hotel, and those little boats they have outside the 2 seaters, I think the both of you should take em out and ride em around the whole Lagoon and enjoy each others company and take tons of pictures with you in a sun dress and hat just loving the moment.
I still have not done this myself and I hope you get the chance to do it. If you are doing a package with disney sometimes within the package they have a ticket for either money off or a 1/2 hour ride on those lovely boats. I think this would be something you both would rememeber forever. After that and you get back to the Poly and park the boat, why don't you and hubby sit back in a lawn chair or on the beach and enjoy and wonderful low cal refreshing drink (does not need to have any alcohol in it) you will be so happy you definately will not need it.
Very very happy for you. You should do whatever makes you happy in your life you only live once, enjoy your new body and don't be self conscious when at Disney everyone is happy and no one really is looking at anyone in a weird way.
Take care and you can add me as a friend if you like ok. :wave:Enjoy your next Disney Trip......The Bestest Place on Earth!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hutchens 2 will be open in the fall. My son will be in the first 5th grade class there. We had some other Coast Guard friends that got transferred away last year. He was a helicopter pilot. Marty and Jackie Simpson. They were sent all the way to Maine!!

Great accomplishment...and I know first-hand how hard it must have been. You see my wife shares a story similar to yours, almost IDENTICAL in every way in fact.

We were planning our first family trip back in early 2004 for March 2005 when my wife came up to me one day and said she was sick of being overweight. It caught me by surprise because she never seemed unhappy with herself before this and there was no incident or anything that seemed to trigger this feeling. I had never had a problem with her weight or anything and loved everything about her from the day we met. When I asked her what brought all this on, she said she kept picturing waiting in line for a ride at WDW, only to get up to the ride and find out she couldn't fit in the seat. I told her that wasn't going to happen, but she wasn't hearing any of it and insisted that that day was going to be the start of a new, healthier lifestyle for herself. And boy, she was not-a-kidding!

She joined the local YMCA and started working out at home on one of those Tony Little Gazelle's (she would spend an hour or two a DAY on it) and boy, the weight started dropping off her quickly. She did change her diet, began watching what she ate and drank (cut out pop), and even got me out walking an hour a day with her and by the summer, she had lost over a 100 pounds (about 150 when all was said and done a year later)! No one could believe the change in her. She had relatives she hadn't seen in a year or two not even recognize her now. And I didn't know this until last year, but found out she carries a picture of how she used to look in her purse to keep her motivated.

Sorry about that...didn't mean to hijack your thread here. :o :ROFLOL:Just wanted to say congratulations and although this is probably something stupid to suggest to help celebrate the new, healthier you, I know for our trip, something as simple as buying a new swimsuit and actually wearing it out in public without constantly covering up or feeling like everyone is staring at you meant THE WORLD to my wife!!! Plus, being able to shop in the "hipper" stores or pretty much anywhere now means a lot to her.

So congrats again...and have a GREAT trip! Please let us know what it is you end up trying too!

Congrats on the new you! How do you feel about para-sailing from the Contemporary Resort? I went about 10 years ago, and I can't wait to do it again. Or, if you're a NASCAR fan, go for some laps around the WDW Speedway!

Congratulations!!

I haven't read all the posts so I'm not sure if these have been mentioned, but how about a bike ride through one of the resorts like FW or PO. Maybe rent a boat too or a Sea Racer. Even nice long walks around Downtown Disney and World Showcase, or if you're around the Boardwalk, take a walk to DHS.

Congratulations to all of you! Try being 5'2" and weighing 250+ lbs. not much fun either. I've tried and tried dieting and unfortunately, nothing has worked for me.

While I have never had any issues in regards to rides at WDW. I have had some MAJOR problems at other theme parks. After trying to ride 2 of the main attraction rides at a theme park in Arlington, Texas, and not being able to fit, I gave up and realized I basically paid admission to walk around the park. There were even a couple of guys in front of us that were not overweight and they could not fit in the car without being in the very front car for the leg room. I was inspired by your post and my sister and I are going to definitely get our butts in gear.

As for suggestions, I would say SPLURGE all the way...especially if you are taking no kids!!! I would surprise him with a romantic dinner for the 2 of you at Victoria and Albert's at the Grand Floridian. Or at the California Grill on the 15th floor at the Contemporary, and see if you can schedule it for close to when the fireworks start!

We have never done the spa thing, so that might be a neat treat as well.

Anyway, Congratulations and who knows, maybe this time next year, I will be posting my results on here!!!!:sohappy:

Will do and thanks! And like I said, I hope you know I wasn't trying to take away from your story, just add to it. I just couldn't get over the similarities between yours and my wife's. Striking similarities in your body types and everything (she is 5'11" and was a little over 300lbs when she started too).

I really wanted to congratulate you on YOUR accomplishments in this thread though, because I know how happy and proud you must feel about the new you, and with good reason! Way to go!!!:sohappy:

Oh yeah...and did she do anything different on that trip because of her weight loss. Hard to say because it was our first trip (well, she had been as a child, but not me or our kids). I think the big thing was she just felt more comfortable with her body and like I said in my other post, she enjoyed being able to wear "cooler" looking clothes, being more stylish I guess you could say. She always hated shopping for clothes when she was bigger. Thought the clothes were VERY unflattering for bigger women. She also bought a new swimsuit for that trip and actually liked hanging around the waterparks and pools more now too.
