What are your "waiting in line" pet peeves?

I really can't stand it when parents say nothing to their young kids about their rude behavior. Once we were in line for Buzz Lightyear, and this little boy in front of us was just totally obnoxious - hitting people, spitting, climbing up the wall, - you name it. When we got on the ride, he and his mother were directly in front of us, so as soon as they turned on the guns, I shot mom first, then the little boy. I didn't score any points for it, but boy did that feel good!
That's funny. I've shot at people as well... all the while thinking, "How do you set this thing to 'Stun'" LOL!!
:D

Another of my "waiting" pet peeves happened to me on our last trip to the MK. My mom and I got to the top of the train station just over an hour before Spectro. we sat down in front of the railing, indian style, and talked and people watched for about 45 min. The train station started filling with people, and rapidly all the "good" spots were gone. Well, 10 min before parade time, a mom came up behind us and pushed her 7 year old boy inbetween the space between my knee and the railing. I looked up at her nastily and she said that she was shocked that I would mind her boy standing there so he could see. It was like I was ruining her whole day by refusing. She seemed to think that since it was just a kid, that made her rudeness OK, and I should let him stand in front of me. I think not.

I understand that some parents want their kids to experience every part of the magic, but physically shoving a kid in the 4 inches between my leg and the railing, and then being shocked to find that I would indeed mind was just beyond my conprehension. If it's important to you, get there early enough, and don't depend on someone taking pity on you. Just because they are a kid, doesn't mean they should be able to stand where they want, when they want. So plan accordingly!!

Pluto77- This happens everyday in my store. There will be one cashier with a couple of people in line and someone will always walk up to the empty register. Then they can't figure out why they aren't being helped. I have to point out that we only have one cashier and if I do open the other register I will be pulling people from the other side first.

Anyway-back to the parks. I understand kids get antsy and cranky in line but I can't stand it when the parents completely flip out. It's as if the five year old is supposed to have better control over himself than the parent.

I don't like the walkie talkie things because the person in front of you may be using the correct language but the person they are talking to talks like a sailor. Do they not realize that other people can hear them?

I know that people like to stay with their parties but on some rides it doesn't really matter. Your group of 15 is not going to fit on one DoomBuggy. Stay with the people you're going to sit with and meet everyone else at the end.

I love when I meet people in line or waiting for the parades. I will talk to anyone. I think I embarass my husband. Sometimes just friendly chat eases tension in line and it's a great way to past the time.

No kidding! Why do giant groups feel the need to stick together like glue? Can't they just break into smaller "sub" groups so they aren't so annoying?

1) Because 2) Uh...no :lookaroun

Just kidding

We've probably been partly guilty of that, but just of the part of wanting our group to stick together. We always have our ride "partners" so that's not a problem. But again I'll bring up HM...parties are always separated there, so we usually just let people pass until everyone is together

I was at MGM yesterday and went to go eat lunch at Pizza Planet. They were pretty crowded and there was a really impatient lady in front of me. She kept looking at her watch every 30 seconds or so as if that would shorten the line down. She kept complaining how crowded it was and that she shouldn't have to wait in such long lines for food. I wanted to lean over and tell her to just relax, WDW is supposed to be relaxing.

I hate flip-flops while in the parks or restaurants. At a pool, beach, water park, fine. Even at a hotel, fine. You might be on the way to the pool.
Yeah, they might be comfortable, but they are really pushing the line too close to being barefoot. That, and the sound they make. Man-o-man!
I have no problem with open-toed shoes. If you can look at your own feet and say "Yeah, people should stare at my very nice toes while in line" in complete confidence, then fine. By all means put on open toed anything, (except flip flops) and go to town.
If, on the other hand, anyone has ever suggested or it has entered your mind at all that you should not wear open toe anything on those nasty foot claws of yours, please do the rest of the world a favor and cover 'em up when out in public besides the places mentioned above as OK.
What's wrong with sandals if you want open and airy? Leather, plastic, cloth, rubber, they come in all kinds of nice acceptable styles at very affordable prices, but can clearly not be called flip flops. If you work in any kind of professional environment where there's a chance you could be seen in public or by a client or other visitor, I'd be willing to bet flip-flops are a no-no.
There is a reason for that.
If you can afford to go to Disney, you can afford to put something on your feet nicer than flip-flops.
Flip flops also come off by accident much more often. When was the last time you've seen anybody's shoes or genuine sandals just come off compared to flip flops.

I guess I've just seen too many people in public recently in flip flops and hair curlers. If you're going to go out in public, please have a little decorum. Just a little. Please? If we all pitch in in this little matter, I promise all our experiences at WDW will be much nicer.
I also can't think of a real medical reason for flip flops as a priority that a slightly loose sandal wouldn't accomplish if you want to go the route of a medical excuse.

(Jumping off soapbox)

Can I get an agreement from anyone here?

I agree with you.. My company, females can wear open toes shoes and sandals, but flip flops are a no no

I don't know why huge groups even want to stay together. I went some years ago with a big group from college and it gave me a headache. Everyone was always arguing about what to do next, someone needing a drink, others wanting to spend more time at Innoventions, etc etc. :dazzle:

Using Handicapped Access

Here is one for all of you ..... Last year we were in line to get on Splash Mountain at MK and saw a family who entered with a child of about 10 years of age in a wheel chair. We watched them go to the front and get on the ride while the rest of us stood and watched the parents lift the kid into the ride and then remove the child. The child had a 12 year old sibling who was helping with the wheel chair. After we got off of Splash Mountain we continued on and later saw the 12 year old in the wheel chair and 10 year old running around and help with pushing. At the next ride we ran into this family they went to the front and lifted the 12 year old into the ride with 10 year olds help. Now I was giving them the benefit of the doubt and hoping this was not a scam on handicap access until I saw them later ditch the wheelchair and head for the exit ......

Parents who can't control their children. When the kids are hitting each other or pushing each other into you, stepping on your feet, looking up at you and giggling because they know they're a cute kid and you don't mind. And the parents are oblivious. Bad parenting. That's my pet peeve about waiting in lines.

I guess there will always be people trying to scam the systems for their own personal goals. Heaven forbid someone in their family actually needs to be in a wheelchair sometime down the road. How are they going to feel when there's no handicap parking because of other scammers when they need it?
