not sure i believe that level 1 will be cast parking, isn't most cast parking across the street, which is the purpose of the elevated crosswalk.

Probably trying to eliminate that for safety reasons, or for show reasons (I can't count how many times I stopped at that light on LBV to see cast members with lunch bags crossing the street).

Generally speaking, cast members have parking lots that are closer or more convenient to the workplace than guest parking lots. Letting cast park on the first floor would be consistent with that.

Access, yes. A direct run-off and merge as the Orange garage has, no. Of course to get into Orange from Buena Vista Drive you still have to access it by BVD. I know, apples and oranges huh?

The only thing I can think of is the greenery showcased in the concept art. But that's pretty much all that comes to mind.

lots of minor things. The planters as someone else mentioned, minor electrical and finishing touch stuff. I also think they will be doing some small reconfiguration (re-striping) of the bottom level as I don't think their parking/ramp access plan worked out the way they wanted.

That's a bit of an understatement (about parking/ramp access on the 1st floor).

I got caught in a jam thinking I could go to the garage from the surface lot by cirque. That felt silly to have to go back out to BVD to get garage access.

MGM in las vegas is pushing ahead with a parking project and breaking the mold by charging for parking on the strip. But the interesting reference is they are building a 3,000 car garage.. price tag $54 million. This stuff don't come cheap

This is why you only build garages when you have to. Per space, garages start at about 20 times the cost of a parking lot.

It's one of those things people just take for granted... even basic parking lots. They are like.. 'what the heck, its just a paved lot'... until they've ever been faced with having to pay for one

True, but a good deal of that comes from what lies below the surface. Concrete is also super expensive vs asphalt, but the added strength and longevity pays off in the long run.

Drove by the garage tonight and noticed that the southwest corner has the greenery added as the original released concept art showed. And it really softens the hard look of the straight metal lines.

I've noticed that in the past week, it's not possible for those leaving from the Cirque area to make a left onto BVD. A month ago I was in that lot, and couldn't get to the garage. Does anyone know how they propose to get the BVD east if you're parked in the surface parking by cirque? Did they re-open access to the garage from surface parking?

I've noticed that in the past week, it's not possible for those leaving from the Cirque area to make a left onto BVD. A month ago I was in that lot, and couldn't get to the garage. They are currently working on the bus lanes in the intersection so they have left turns unavailable for the moment. I don't expect this to be a end all be all solution tho, just work before spring break around the corner.

Photo update as of Tuesday, Feb. 9. As reported by @Adam N, over the last week and a half, greenery has been added to three of the four corners of the Orange garage. Not all corner "walls" are covered yet, as can be seen in the below photos. This greenery is faux vegetation, and can be touched in the corner stairwells from the inside.

Inside the Orange garage, the Plexiglas "shields" on the sides of the escalators are being replaced with stainless steel railings. This work has just started on the ground floor at the northeast corner, near the larger pedestrian crossover. In the below photo, the original Plexiglas can be seen in the background, and the new stainless steel railings in the foreground. The Plexiglas always seemed to be dirty and scratched easily.

I always questioned the reasoning behind the plexi from the day garage opened. I was like..."uh...this is gonna look like you know what in about a month". Glad to see it going away.

The planters really do add a lot to it. Once the whole project is complete, driving down the road will be way more pleasant than it was prior to construction. Not that I thought it was all that bad before, but this is definitely a few notches up. Hope they take care of it and maintain it.

They're faux plants, so shouldn't need too much maintenance.
