West Side Parking Garage construction

From the concept art that was shown it appears that the structure will be aesthetically pleasing as well as functional. I am really looking forward to these structure's completion. Actually, I am looking forward more to the completion of the entire Disney Springs. We have had construction going on there for so long now that I am having a hard time remembering what it was like without it. :(

I would LOVE to have a smart parking system. It would save time for so many people and it would reduce the amount of traffic in the structures. It would be amazing to be able to see at a glance if there were spots available. However, something inside me thinks that they are going to go cheaper on this and we will not see this sort of technology in the garages. :(

I have used the the Smart Parking garage in Illinois a half dozen times since it opened this past August and it still is a mini marvel to me.

I've seen some of the things Disney has 'themed' as of late and I'm not betting on it being pleasing, more a cement white elephant, those puppies are going to be massive. The concept art is excellent. I am in my mind now looking at the one outside the club at night that has the Holy Moly 10 story palm trees in front of it, it looks awesome in the concept drawings. Now am I that gullible to believe in reality it will look anything like the concept drawings? That Disney has set aside bionic Palm Trees ready for the planting? Only if one believes in Jack and the Bean Stalk.

I don't find any parking garages aesthetically pleasing, not my taste, to each there own.

I agree that parking garages are not that pleasing to look at, but IF Disney does this right it may be pretty nice.

As much as I hate to admit it, you're probably right. The garages may not look anything like the concept art. :(

Uh, get control man. That's amazing. No one was attacking you. And this is not the first time you have accused someone of attacking you when they haven't. Wow.
You should realize that if people continue to think your posts are confrontational then perhaps you should rethink your posting style.

Now THAT I will agree with 100%.

(Deleted) I'm too tired, and my head hurts too much to deal with someone that just wants to argue. I'm going to bed. Find someone else to bait into an argument. I never started anything with you and you know it. Goodnight. :cautious:

You're the only one dude. Now who needs to read who's posts? I never said others see my posts as confrontational. Just you. ;)
So you continue to pick and choose what I say to respond to...never mind the fact that I was offering guidance to your persona and agreeing with your last statement. You continue to pick and choose tidbits to attack.

I'm certainly not the only person that I've seen you assault online.

Sure. Whatever you say pal. Night. o_O

Do what I just did. Put me on your ignore list. ;)

But your post gave me a good giggle. "the garages will not be visible from inside Disney Springs. Except perhaps in certain instances." Oy. They will not be visible except when they are visible. :cyclops:

This may help with your conceptual understanding. If you have ever been to citywalk you know that 2 massive parking garages are located very closely. They can even be seen from some areas of citywalk. But how often have you actually noticed that? Or even found them to be visually intrusive?

Further, Disney Springs will have indoor areas and arcades that will make it impossible to see the garages.

Not really that difficult to understand now is it?

So you think that the same sea of cars stacked on top of each other in a dark, twisting, labyrinth filled with potential criminal hiding spots is a better and safer environment?

Just want to make sure I understand your concerns on the aesthetics of police observation towers.

I am pretty sure they will not be stacking cars on top of each other. I mean we are discussing a parking garage here not Gringotts.

I think the garages will be very secure. Camera surveilance will negate the need for police towers. Surely you are not defending the aesthetic look of those towers. :bored::facepalm:

Would not be suprised if other tech is used like facial recognition and license plate readers. Certainly every plate will be recorded and stored digitally. The garages will be a much more secure environment than was previously provided. Other factors will just be the large number of guests going in and out and also likely the prescence of on site security patrols  Very secure!

Plus nice greenery will adorn the outside shell. :D

I just do not see any negatives. :cat:

The aesthetic look of those towers is as much a deterrent against crime as the bag check is at the theme parks.

If there aren't tag readers and facial recognition going through the gates for the parks now, what makes you think that they will fork over the big bucks to fund something that has no immediate bearing on the profit margins especially considering the numbers of outside vendors customers that this garage will accommodate.

That new tech is quite affordable now especially for a company like Disney.

As for the towers, they were likely a necessary deterrent but not quite the aesthetic one would want for "The Happiest Place on Earth". And besides that, just plain ugly. Hope they never reappear because they just won't be needed.

You speak of them as if the behave rationally. Just because something is "affordable for a company" doesn't mean that they are going to spend the bucks to buy it.

You forget that every dollar spent is one less dollar saved.

I guarantee you they already have some sort of measures in place. But this wouldn't be the place to discuss it even if I knew what they were. I will feel very safe at DS now. Well in 2017 when I visit.

Sure they do....patrols by the OCSO.

Why pay for deterrents when it will be provided for free?

Genuinely LOLed at this.

BTW, checked today, garage is surprisingly well hidden on West Side, due to height of AMC and Splitsville. Only really visible down "Pop Gallery Alley".

Also, once again the Cirque lot was surprisingly empty. Not sure why people will park in a garage that is almost as far away from where they want to be as a parking lot, but hey, interesting theory.

Ha. I stopped reading at the first sentence. Never a wise to be condescending in your opening remarks.

5000 cars! Wow. Looks great but still trying to figure out the monolith. I am sure someone will mention monorail footer. :cautious:

Here is a close up picture of the "monolith" from the recent Theme Park Insider update. I can't quite figure out what this is. It sort of looks like they are going to build a second one to the left of the current one, appears to be a foundation there for it. Also of note in that photo update, the tower crane has been removed from the first garage section.

Just a guess... Support for a crosswalk/bridge from the deck to the west side shopping district. Look at the approximate location as the stairs/walkway.
