West Side Parking Garage construction

woulda been nice to see some more color inside the garage, but seems like they are goig with the AK lot theory, complete lack of theming visual interest to make us appreciate the theming once we get to the springs more.

Color can be added easily once the garage is open. Additional parking is a bigger priority.

I was checking something on the official DTD webpage and noticed that the interactive map was different from the last time I looked at it. Now, the map doesn't show any parking to the east of the new garage. Is this a new map image, or have I just not paid close-enough attention?

Wow good catch. Lots of changes on the map. The bypass ramp that goes around pleasure island is cut off at the boat dock. (presumably to reinstall the original dock) The walkway down the center of Pleasure island is open, ALL of the Parking east of the garage is gone and several restaurants that are still under construction are listed.

Didn't want to break the news first first, but yes that parking will go away on the east side to prepare for the actual springs and eventually the second parking garage. A tentative plan was in December but I pray the project leaders realize it can wait until the second week of January.

will be interesting to see how the closure of all parking east of the new garage affects the marketplace.

they really should institute some type of shuttle or something.

its unfortunate in the plans that they didn't include some type of transit system from the marketplace to the west side around the outer ring of the new springs, instead of only relying on the current low capacity boat shuttle system

as if its really suppose to represent a town, it would seem logical the town would have trolleys or something period theme appropriate

From what was said earlier in the thread, the parking gained by the garage will outweigh the parking lost. Part is being turned into the Marketplace garage and part is one of the new areas for Disney Springs.

Work is expected to begin early January (Jan 12 i've heard thrown around).

Yes, the parking is offset just fine, but now it will be quite the trek for everyone to get to the marketplace area.

They are coming, but will not be ready this year.

Amenities such as the led for parking spaces, and possibly theming, shall come later (as well as upper floors)

Reedy creek manages the personnel and direct traffic and provides security. If they are in the same numbers as they are already, sharks will not be around
