Parknado?Sharks?
The Grove and The Americana at Brand (which is just over 10 minutes away from 1401 Flower St) both feature a streetcar system and clear examples of the sort of environment Disney Springs is seeking to replicate. Some outdoor malls, including The Grove in Los Angeles I believe, do in fact include streetcar systems. I could see something like that working really well here.
Another option would be to diversify the offerings across all of Disney Springs so people people won't have to gravitate toward Marketplace. I don't know for certain but I'm guessing a lot of people are going to World of Disney, so they could consider building other general Disney stores in other parts of Disney Springs.
why would people walk to SS from DD, wouldn't their cars get towed at nightWell, the walk from the garage to the Saratoga Springs bus stop is quite a bit farther, which is a huge chunk of who was parking in that lot.
Honestly, I hope this cuts down on that issue.

no need o walk, just park; motor launch to POFQ, then hop a bus to the parksI think he was referring to people parking a DD, walking to SS and taking the bus to the parks in order to park for free.
well, replacing 1200 spots with a deck capacity of ~5000... and we are not yet counting the second deck cap ~2000. what were you expecting? there is always growing pains when you build in the same footprint.I drove to DTD last Friday evening and it was tragic. The amount of people and cars was ridiculous. Even worst Saturday evening around 7pm the exit to DTD was back up. DTD almost needs triple the amount of space it has. I hope that in this clean up - it is more open space. It is a mess (and has been for years).
Photo update as of Thursday, Nov 20. In addition to the photos posted by wdwmagic, here are some other views. Currently, only the ground floor is open to guests. A cast member said the second deck was only open to cast members, and the only interior ramp open to the second deck was on the west end of the garage. Vehicle entrances are open at both the east and west ends of the garage, with construction walkways to Downtown Disney at either end. The entire length of the garage parallel to Downtown Disney is a pedestrian walkway to various elevators and escalators. The garage escalators were operating. The second deck was empty except for 3 cast member cars.
Here is the garage entrance near Planet Hollywood from Buena Vista Drive (in the distance).

In the photo below, taken on the second deck, you will see parking indicators hanging from the ceiling. At present, they all flash both red and green. At the end of each row in the main driveway (not shown here), there is an overhead electronic sign that appears will indicate whether or not there are open spaces in that row.

On the upper floors, the back side of the elevators are glass, so you can see into the garage from the elevator.

Both walkways from the garage to Downtown Disney are within passages to protect guests from construction. This view is from the west end of the garage to the backside of DisneyQuest, however you must walk to the Cirque du Soleil area to enter Downtown Disney.

I mean, it's a parking garage. And tbh, I think large characters on the outside would be a bit garish (and don't fit in with the back story of Disney Springs at all).Does anyone else think this looks like your run of the mill, typical mall parking garage? Granted the landscaping and such is not complete, but I was kid of picturing this to be more Disney-fied, maybe with large character pictures on the outside...
