Weird Rumor

Isn't American Idol a Fox license? Since when did Disney start licensing things from Fox, especially since Fox works close with Universal?

Screamscape has addressed this issue. They've noted that Fox has usually stayed away from putting their things in the theme parks. But they presumes that maybe since Fox is putting the Simpsons in Universal, this is a way for Disney to combat this.

But note that the rumor says it might also be just an American Idol-style show.

I'm surprised by the negative reactions so far. But I am going to assume this is going to reflect the minority of opinions. If A.I. does come to the parks, I think it'll bring in a good crowd.

I personally would love to see the bad singers make fools out of themselves. :)

Yea, that would be funny, but you can see that on the AI show(which imo is not about finding the best singer in america as simon and others have said, there are a bucketload of people coming from there that are nowhere near the best and ill leave that at that)

But when you think about, yea it may draw in people- different from the typical disney crowd- but would you really want to go to this show sit and watch someone be humiliated on their vacation? I assume that it'll be where they have people coming in singing and judges telling them how good or bad they were/are, it just seems stupid honestly, something that wouldnt belong in a theme park imo. I can see this more as a bar or something in PI, something you'll have to pay to get in to see. Seeing people coming off the stage crying and humiliated at mgm, would just be a little dark for disney. But I dont know, the idea could turn into something.

I go to WDW to get away from trash TV... not experience it first hand...

I might disagree with your calling it trash. While it may not be my cup of tea, it is wholesome entertainment that entire families can experience together. In that respect, I applaud AI and think it may be a good fit at Diz.

Not sure if I like the idea yet, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it trash.

American Idol

Why is everyone assuming that if this rumor is true, the AI show will be audience participation?

PS- Funny how everyone says they hate AI but the ratings remain strong. Someone is lying.

Again, just because something exists at WDW or DLR or even appears on ABC or any network for that matter does not mean they or any other company owns it or the rights to it.

Examples:
House is an NBC/Universal show (which is why its on USA in reruns)
Scrubs is an ABC/Disney show (which is why Disney would have picked it up for this year if NBC didn't)
Twilight Zone belongs to CBS
etc etc etc

And one of the better new shows of the season, the CW's Reaper, is produced by ABC Studios. Maybe in next year's Boo To You Parade we'll see people dressed in Work Bench uniforms. :fork:

Screamscape's rumors have been downright pathetic lately. Remember a couple weeks ago when they solicited rumors via email regarding Space Mountain because they had nothing, then posted a 'substantive' rumor like two days later regarding Space? They might have had credibility in the past, but I think their quality sources have dried up.

They did know about the Tortuga restaurant before others.

That's only for the first couple of episodes. After that, all the people left are good.

Definately.

true, i think thats one reason why the show is popular, beyond that it gets very uninteresting.

And thats pretty pathetic if you want to watch someone get humiliate, but on the same note, they are the ones putting themselves on the spot, so overall its their risk.

If the rumor is true, then I say PI.

It's not pathetic at all. That is the reason why people would want to see it.

They want to go up there, so why can't I enjoy it? You should not worry about what I think and kick back and enjoy it too.

I would hope that an 'ABC' show would go in the 'ABC' theatre. How About A 'Lost' Attraction. I Could See Some Kind Of Attraction Involving ABC'S Hit Shows Like Lost, Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Pushing Daisies, and Ugly Betty. A Walkthrough Maybe?

Project Fantasia has been apparently put on hold by the legal department and to answer people's questions ---- Fox doesn't own American Idol.

By the way they are totally re-doing everything inside the theater. They're pretty much tearing everything out and installing new lighting, seats, etc.
