How big of a storm surge is dangerous for the Keys?
I have no idea.
I really wish the BB’s had left.
Just saw the water is already over the sea wall in Key West. You made the right call in leaving!
My parents were saying that FL has been experiencing above average high tides. If I heard my father correctly, it's attributed to something lunar. As a result, high tides could add an extra 1-2' to surge beyond normal high tides. If you don't already follow Mike's Weather Page (spaghetti models), it's a good site to stay on top of things. He has a Facebook page that's also often very helpful. Surge is the most dangerous thing in a landfalling storm, so definitely good to leave.
