We Came, We Saw, We Froze

The Dinosaur Institue and I welcome you to my trip report. There was one theme to this year's trip, and that was...

It was FREEZING this past week in Florida. They haven't experienced cold like this in years. And of course it starts when we arrive. But that's okay...we were in Disney World, nothing could ruin our trip! Luckily we checked weather reports before leaving and packed accordingly.

A little background on everyone. First there's my family- mom, dad, me (19), Shannon (15), and Zach (12). This is our fourth trip to Disney World. We began planning a year ago and have been anxiously awaiting the trip ever since. I think my parents were more excited than the kids were. :lol:

Then there's my best friend of 10 years, Jamie. She is a part of the family, so of course she had to come along! This was her first trip to the World and couldn't wait.

Sunday, January 3rd. AKA Arrival day!!!

Our flight was at 8:45am, so wake up time was 5am. Oy. I'm not a morning person, and even with a destination like WDW, it was still rough getting up. But I did and we were out of the house by 5:30. Security was much tighter, thanks to what happened on Christmas day. Once through that, we waited at the gate in anticipation for our flight.

All set, family? Good. Let's go!

Shannon and I were tired, so we slept for part of the trip. Jamie was too excited, so she took pictures of us.

Our five hour flight took us from this...

And before we knew it we found ourselves at Magical Express.

Ahhhhh!!! We're finally home! This has got to be the greatest sight ever.

We got off at Boardwalk in hopes of eating at ESPN Club, per tradition. But the wait was too long and we were starving. It was 6:00pm and we hadn't eaten since 8:00am Cali time. We needed food asap!

We ended up eating here

Because it had the shortest wait. I got the pork chops and they were a lot better than what I was expecting. After dinner we went to our hotel and explored.

Stormalong Bay. Never got to enjoy it.

The gingerbread carousel in the lobby. I thought that this would all be gone by tomorrow, but I was wrong.

We got two rooms. Shannon, Jamie, and I were in one and mom, dad, and Zach were next door.

We ended up taking it easy tonight and relaxed in the room while rocking out to the Hannah Montana movie concert. :lookaroun Don't judge me.

We also learned from Magical Express that my mom's suitcase never made it to Orlando. Um, what? Panic started to set in. I can't imagine being on vacation without clothes! The people at the front desk were nice enough to call United every 20 minutes in search of her bag. I also tried calling in a few times, but it was a lost cause trying to understand the people on the other line. Ugh. There was nothing else we could do, so we would have to wait till morning to find out any news.

That does it for day one! Hollywood Studios is up next.

Nice report. We like the Beach Club so your pictures there are nice. What was your view? Where you on Club Level? That circular piece of furnite your brother is passed out on I have done the same thing--and I know they have them on the 5th Floor! Ha funny. Report is good like the pictures.

Gah. Ignore the bad picture. My camera doesn't take good nighttime pictures.

We were on the third floor overlooking the bus stop. It wasn't the greatest view, but SSE was peeking out from the trees, so that was nice.

I am loving this so far and I LOVE the picture when you went under the Welcome to Walt Disney World sign. I am still SO very upset that we didn't see this thanks to mapquest! We stayed at POR and I put in the address for the resort and it brought us in the back way. I just wanted to cry... no kidding! :ROFLOL: My DH's was like "it's no big deal", but it was to me. I can't wait to go back, and next time we will be going the old way again. :ROFLOL:
