A day or two ago she got a call saying that they lost their house but were safe in a shelter. Apparently somebody had gone around and taken names of everybody plus the phone number of the closest relative. She called the families of every person in the shelter!![]()

Debbie said:Bsandersjr-worked at oil refinery and if it's by me; they are working around the clock to get it up and running. He will be allowed in Jefferson Parish on Monday from 6am to 6pm to collect his things and be prepared to be gone for one month. This can only be done from Monday-Thursday and then the parish will be closed for at least one month. We're told that noone will want to stay
Longfamily-should be fine, they are from Chackbay, and they actually should have power but not digital internet
Disneydreaming is from Slidell and word is 90% suffered damage-Slidell is right next to the Mississippi state line and they are just as devastated because of tidal surges
Ringo8n24 and MkCP-their area looks like a bomb went off. It will be years before the Gulf Coast once again rebuilds
I'll see you guys tomarrow; thanks for thinking of all of us.

Disneydreaming said:I saw the weather forum first and read and posted over there. We are fine, in Litlle Rock for now. We lost everything to the tidal surge, 8 feet of water where we live in Palm Lake. I don't know what we are going to do or where we will end up. My sister's two daughters lost their homes as well, my oldest niece Melissa's condo on Lake Ponchartrain was completely destroyed, all that is left is a slab. I am with my 84 year old mom, have my 3 daughters with me and all of our 9 cats and 1 dog. We are fortunate that the hotel we are at, Baymont Inn, was willing to take us and all our pets, and we have rooms here as long as we need them. But I need to get home to deal with gutting the house or knocking it down. What a mess. I feel really bad for my oldest daughter, she is 17, misses her friends, just starting her senior year and lost her car. I'm waiting for the FEMA agent who is looking at our house today to let me know exactly what she finds and what she can do for us. We have insurance, flood and all, so we do have the ability to rebuild and move.
I will be checking into this forum to check on everyone. If I can be of any help to anyone, phone calls, transportation, anything, please let me know how I can help.
