Having lived in Colorado most of my life, I can assure you it is no myth. Yes, some people have no idea how to operate a rear wheel drive vehicle in snow...I do. There is a huge difference between rear wheel and front wheel.

You would be shocked at how 3 inches of snow can start to cause problems with a rear wheel drive vehicle...never mind the ususal 6-8 inches we have around here.

I grew up in Pittsburgh and I've driven rear-wheel drive cars in 6-8 inches (or more) more times than I could even begin to count.

Never had a problem.

...it's all in the tires.

I came to that same conclusion when I had the Z4. I was out in a couple inches of snow and sliding all over the place - not only when I was accelerating, but also when I was braking. That evening, I went out in Linda's all wheel drive 325xi, and it didn't have any problems at all - either accelerating or braking.

I thought to myself: "Hey, my Z4 has all-wheel braking the same as this car, yet it was sliding when I tried to stop in the exact same conditions."

So I took off the summer tires and put on some all-seasons and never had another problem in the snow.

My dealership has a VIN...but it's not mine.

This is pretty impressive. Someone hooked up Google Maps to the Order Process and when a VIN gets assigned, it puts a pin in the corresponding dealership.

Production-intent cars will slow down for a bit while they plow through the dealership cars but they're already doing 250/day...and hoping to ramp up to 400 by the first week in April.

Also, a little creepy...but this is the list of all of the VIN's produced to date. (The numbers missing are going to "outside of the US" dealerships)

If you look at the list. #100 is going to a dealership in MA and is the only V6 that has a VIN assigned to it (within the first 1000). (Technically it's #1...for that model/engine combo)

Any news yet?

When you get it, you better plan on extra time to get places. I get stopped nearly everywhere I go with people who want to ask about and take pictures of the 370Z, and I have to imagine the Camaro will get much more attention.

Nope, I've been told by my dealer that I'll probably be taking delivery in June. (Since the restraints on the Cyber Gray have been lifted, it pushed me back one spot.)

I did find out about that one V6 model. It's Dustin Pedrioa's...(or it's associated with him in some way.) It could be a charity car or something.

Man, AVIS is taking up all of the spots!!!

(And, just for that reason, I'm kinda glad mine is coming later...I can put more down, and all of the "OMG!!!11! That's a CAMARO!" will have died down (a lil bit).

Nissan opted out of the Detroit Auto show too.

Just hit up a dealership...they don't have anything that you can't find on any lot coming out soon.

Not too interested in Nissan, but I did want to see Mitsubishi. But, I can go to the dealership.

Anyway, I stopped at the Chevy dealership on my way home last night to talk about the Camaro and on the showroom floor was a fully loaded Black Cobalt SS. Now, at first I didn't give it much thought...then I saw the price ($22k)...then I found out the price it would really cost me to drive it off the lot ($19.5k)...then I took it out for a spin.:D

Holy cripes!! Made the WRX I drove feel like a dump truck. I mean this thing was flat out slick..and fast. I did a little reading last night and saw it did the Ring in 8:22!! Yeah, fastest time EVER for a FWD car, and only 3 seconds behind the Camaro.

I still say it...

Cobalt SS is the most underrated car on the market.

They'll be giving them away too...with the new Cruze hitting the market next year.

19.5 out the door for a fully loaded SS seems like a steal. I mean that is about 6k off the sticker!! Going to go back tonight and talk about it...we shall see.

Jeez...maybe I should pick one up as a winter beater!

I can't wait for the Cruze though... It's rumored to get 45mpg.
I love the "BMW/Honda-esque" styling to it...
