I was going to post these when they first came out a few days ago, but I was too lazy to dig up this thread.:o

Now since Brian has done the hard work for me:

There are supposed to be more details on Nov. 11 and an official unveiling at the LA auto show. Speculation is horesepower of approximately 330 (it will probably be the same engine as the G37) and weight in the 3200 lb. range.

The Z4 is also supposed to be unveiled in LA, and there should be something out on that very soon (this week or next).

And I hate to be the one to break this to anyone who doesn't already know, but Ducati has gone and made an ugly motorcycle:lookaroun

After seeing the latest batch of photos of the Z...I'm disappointed again. This is like a rollercoaster for me. I love the overall "shape change" from the previous model...but the headlights, tailights, and accent lines do nothing for me. The interior doesn't look sleek anymore...it looks boxy and bulky.

I like it. I always liked the Nizmo more than the standard Z, and when I've looked at photos side by side, I realized the Nizmo had a more pointed front end and the rear spoiler gave more shape to the rear.

This one has the more pointed front end and more shapely rear built in without the Nizmo package and it just works better to my taste.

I also like the shorter overall length and shorter rear that give it more classic front-engine, rear-drive roadster dimensions (like one of my all time favorites - the original 240Z).

Combined with the lower weight and more power (and the other elements that the 350Z has always done well), I'm very interested.

There was something that always bothered me about the seats on the old 350Z (and G35/37) that seems to carry over to this new design. I can't put my finger on it, but the seats seem overly square and too broad at the top:shrug:

. . . but that's about the only complaint I have, and I can live with that.

I don't think you're alone though. I've seen some similar comments to yours on other boards.

Well, it looks like I'm in the market for something other than the Camaro Convertible.

GM released a statement saying that it will be delayed at least another year due to the economic struggle they are in.

(I may just get the Coupe)

Well, heading home from work on Tuesday night I got absolutely creamed by a Ford F150 quad cab. I was in my 2005 Chevy Colorado (I love that thing…best 4WD I have ever owned in my life. That thing was a tank in snow and blizzards) and was on the interstate when I slowed down for the nightly traffic jam and was doing about 15 mph when I got hit from behind. Guy was doing about 50-55 mph and did not even have time to hit his breaks. Ouch!! I found my glasses on the floor in the back and I hit my seat so hard it broke. The force of the impact peeled off the entire spray-on liner in the bed. I have a receiver for a trailer hitch and it punched through the front of the F150’s radiator and block.

So anyway, chances are I may be in the market for a new vehicle. I love my Colorado, but I really, really like the Lancer Evo, although it may be a bit out of my price range. I may settle for the Lancer Ralliart instead.

I do not like this car. Basically just a facelift. It goes to show you...GM and Chrysler up the ante as far as the "muscle-car" market goes...and Ford just sits back and watches it happen.

This is the year for a complete redesign.

To compare the "Big 3's Muscle Cars"

Horsepower:
Mustang: 210hp (V6), 315hp (GT)
Camaro: 304 hp (V6), 400hp (SS automatic), 422hp (SS manual)
Challenger: 250hp (V6), 425hp. (SRT/8)

Weight:
Mustang: 3,533lbs (GT)
Camaro: 3,750lbs (SS)
Challenger: 4,140lbs (SRT/8)

Torque:
Mustang: 325 lb.ft. (GT)
Camaro: 424 lb.ft. (SS)
Challenger: 420 lb.ft. (SRT/8)

Price:
Mustang: $22,995 (V6) to $48,800 (GT500)
Camaro: $22,245 (V6) to $29,995 (SS Model)
Challenger: $21,995 (V6), $38,000 (SRT/8)

0-60:
Mustang: N/A
Camaro: 4.7 seconds
Challenger: (Low 5 seconds)

Gas Mileage:
Mustang: 16/23 (GT)
Camaro: 21/23 (SS Model)
Challenger: 13/18 (SRT/8)

1/4 Mile Times:
Mustang:N/A
Camaro: N/A
Challenger: 13.5 seconds

Again, people not just "going to buy a Mustang" will look at these numbers and move on (that being said, Mustang has such a great fanbase...they will still sell the most).

Lowest Horsepower numbers
Best Weight
Worst Torque numbers
Reasonably priced...but I would expect a car with these numbers to be a lot lower.
Eh for gas mileage. (Actually, for a car that's getting a little over 300hp...the gas mileage stinks.)

Is anybody interested in this car?

ooOOoo it has a fancy glass roof! (Which would lower the weight even more if it didn't have the gimmick!)

I'm still waiting to hear some stats on what the new engine plus chassis mods results in the 370z.

I am underwelmed with the new body styling. I think the fingers in the lights are ugly.. and the curved front looks like a tiberon to me. I think the GTR window and roof line look decent, but I'm not really wowed.

I'm disappointed that the 'hundreds of pounds' of weight drop really look to be about 100-150lbs. Tho I wasn''t expecting much given the car's price point. Lightweight doesn't tend to be cheap.

I am glad they fought the luxury bloat and the car remains a good balance. The new door treatments should help with some of the interior complaints.

Tho this claim of dynamic weight balence perplexes me as an engineer. How can your weight balance change in a turn when the weight distribution we are talking about is front to back... and its a function of mass..

I don't know either...I'm assuming that when you go into a hard right turn...the front left of the car takes all of the weight (due to body-roll). So the right rear of the car would be "lighter" therefore more weight could be distributed back there to balance out the front.

Okay...my Colorado is getting repaired and I should have it back one week from today.

My lease is up come April, so I will for sure get the Lancer Ralliart...or the Camaro...or the S40...or:shrug::shrug::shrug:

It all depends on your needs/wants/lifestyle.

For me, I'd get the Camaro hands-down...and will most likely do so.

The Camaro will not do well in snow though. I have another vehicle to fall back on during snowy conditions though. (Not too bad with snow tires and the traction control...but still not an ideal "winter-condition" car.).

Also, April is about the time the first allocations of the Camaro will be hitting dealerships (you can order now). Finding a new Camaro for MSRP or less will be difficult.

I haven't really been following the Ralliart so I have no input for you there...but the S40 is also a nice vehicle (and more practical than a Camaro). Watch out though...I just used that dreaded "P" word (which means I'm getting old!)

Th only thing keeping me from ordering the Camaro right now is the snow. I had a 280Z some years ago and that thing was worthless in any kind of snow at all.

The more I check out the Ralliart the more I want one.

the guess at a $30K sticker price was a bit off...looks to be about $27K

Another vehicle had slipped through the cracks in my radar but has quickly become a front-runner in my quest for a new car.

The Infiniti G37 Convertible. Has anybody heard anything about it?
I'm assuming that it'll have the same engine as the 370Z right?

I had a 350Z and it was also useless in the snow...
That's one of the main reasons why I'm not considering the 370Z (and the fact that it's not, at least, a 2+2).

and I'm back from the junkyard. Picked up a set of front 98 Jetta GLX leather buckets and rear leather bench, plus interior side panels for $180.. woot.

Now to get dirty.

New England International Auto Show is this weekend.

Anybody want pics of anything special?

I'm pretty sure the 370Z will be there. (I'm hoping the Camaro is :slurp: and the G37 Convertible)
