Photo update as of Tuesday, June 29, 2021. Overpass beams for the new Floridan Way overpass are in place now. This overpass connects Floridan Way south to World Drive south, near the gas station south of the Magic Kingdom parking lot.

This is the view from the exit road south of the Magic Kingdom parking lot, with the retention pond in the foreground that used to be the WDW Speedway track. The gas station would be to the left of this photo.

So is the current MK exit road that runs right along side mickey pond just temporary? Trying to read the plans but having trouble figuring it out.

Sort of. Most of it is permeant but the direction of traffic flow will be reversed when the parking lot exit is placed through the underpass currently being built.

Red will be southbound

Black will be North bound to the Monorail resorts / cast parking north of the park.

White will be roads that are deleted

Thank you! Every time I drive through here I try to figure out how it’s all going to work and this finally makes it make sense. I hope they continue the landscaping job they did on the toll plaza side to finish off the project.

Photo update as of Thursday, June 9, 2022. Work on the overpass for the new Floridan Way seems to be on hold. Not much happening in the last few months. This overpass connects Floridan Way south to World Drive south, near the gas station south of the Magic Kingdom parking lot. This view is from the Magic Kingdom parking lot exit looking south.

I’ve been wondering about this, things were moving pretty quickly and then all of a sudden it stopped. Could this somehow be related to the uncertainty of the District?

Meanwhile Epic Universe has concrete casting daily from their on-site plant. They seem to get supplies....

See the prefab retaining interlocking wall modules? Those are made in a factory somewhere in China and shipped to the US on a boat. (No supply chain problems there right?)

Note that 2/3 of the overpass is already built. They can’t stop and switch to another model or design. Hence the project is stopped.

So one overpass holds up the whole project?
