Photo update as of January 11, 2023. Only the southbound lane on the overpass from Floridian Way is open (see orange traffic barrels in the photo below).
Paving is still underway at the ramp's base for the northbound lane, which is not open yet. The missing pavement on the northbound lane can be seen in bioreconstruct's photo in post of December 18, 2022, above. Paving is underway today, so the northbound lane may open very soon.

The below photo is looking south from the Magic Kingdom's western most parking area, near Floridian Way.

I like the new pattern, however I think a circle would be best at the seven seas drive/Floridian way intersection. I was 7 cars deep waiting to go north at the stop sign.

They need to immediately add a stop sign onto Seven Seas. Most southbound MK traffic would be using the new World Drive ramps now anyway negating the need for the free flowing left turn.

However, trying to go north with that blind corner is scary.

"A new permit filed with the state reveals that Disney will be creating a new entrance to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort as part of the ongoing World Drive North project. In short, the permit appears to show a relocation of the entrance to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort from Seven Seas Drive where it is currently located to an entrance from World Drive Phase 3/Floridian Way."

"Zooming in, we can see that the current entrance to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will turn into a bus-only entrance to the resort as noted by the planned painting seen just above the “Seven Seas Drive” label."

Details in the link below.

We just received an email from Shades of Green stating that the work between Shades of Green and Grand Floridian will be starting May 1. The walkway between SoG and the Poly will be closing at this time. ☹️

With World Drive being widened to 4 lanes and the increased traffic, it was unsustainable. Drivers already have a bad habit of not stopping for pedestrians to cross in spite of the signage. I guess the combat stroller crowd will not like it as they will be forced to abide by federal regulations and fold those strollers on the bus.

Or, you know, the mobility device users (not uncommon among veterans) who preferred using the walkway with their devices over waiting extra time for buses because so few can be taken on a single bus. This is a decrease in accessibility.

While I certainly respect the safety concerns, and that designing a workaround (pedestrian bridge, for ex) may not have been an option, Disney could at least reinstate the free theme park parking for SOG guests that used to be a perk as a trade off for the decrease in accessibility.

The email that was sent out stated that SOG will be adding additional buses that goes to the TTC. That said, my family has always found SOG’s buses to be lacking and preferred to use transportation from the Polynesian. I already told my sister that we will be driving to Studios and AK from now on. Thankfully, we have annual passes so we don’t have to pay for parking at the parks.

I saw that. And while I appreciate it, when there are mobility devices in the party, and only 2 devices can go on each bus - it’s virtually guaranteed that this becomes much longer wait times, disproportionately so for this population compared to parties with no mobility needs (especially considering SOG is likely to have a higher population of disabled people staying there).

I agree about the mobility scooters. My dad had to use one during his last couple visits and I remember how long he would have to wait. We decided it was best if we used the walkway as it would be easier for him.
