What are you trying to do man? Actually, give them facts and truth? They won't stand for that!! haha
If you check that “slog” through the threads...you’ll see social/economic theorists predicting there was “no way” they be shut during the Busy spring break season...and no way they’d be shut to start the summer...and definitely “no way” they wouldn’t be open in June...

Cause you know: it’s all about concern for the poor workers 🙄

Now you’re looking at July.

So what “facts” have vindicated anyone at this point? And truth is being debated everyday...but it’s a one sided game as usual.
This is the part I don't understand. How can it be ok to open a restaurant and allow 50% capacity with appropriate social distancing and yet you can't figure out a way to open a much larger space like a movie theatre, block off seats so people beyond your party wouldn't be near each other, and you could even wear a mask if you didn't open up the concessions? That seems like it would be safer than a much smaller space like a restaurant, which is also air conditioned, and people will be around each other for 60-90 minutes.
I think theaters might be done.
The fact that the dates are only through June 6th lead me to believe they are going to try to start on a Sunday. So... the 7th or the 14th seems plausible. My money would be more likely for the 14th to get cast member training up to snuff, but that could change with new info.
Like in June?

I’ve got some magic beans to sell you.
This is the thing that I have tried to explain to some friends of mine just because you say they can open, doesn't mean they have to open. Maybe they don't feel it's safe to open. Maybe it's not cost effective to open. Maybe they didn't read the rules on opening.
Yep...people are forgetting that business won’t reopen to not make money. Nobody gets paid that way except the banks due to court orders.
Exactly. People keep thinking WDW will open as soon as Florida gives them the green light. That's just not true. They have a lot of other issues to contend with as a worldwide travel destination. Remember they closed before Florida had to and will likely follow federal guidance from the CDC far more than Florida.
Anyone that thinks that still is either new to the world or honestly not really grasping the use of language properly anymore.

There is no indication disney is in a rush at all.

And the cdc guidance just released is censored and pointless...it give no concrete guidance to avoid any responsibility...language was also altered to make near everything “optional”

Florida tried to sell the “you open and do it your way” two weeks ago with Disney and they laughed. Not gonna budge and take risks.

A Sunday for the resorts and a Monday for the parks. That way guest are there in the morning.

I wouldn’t read too much into the June 6 date. They are cancelling one week at a time so the reservation lines don’t get overwhelmed. Last week it was the last week of May. This week they did the first week of June. If they stop cancelling reservations then it may be a sign something is up, but so far it’s been a pretty regular pace.

Disney has been regularly notifying Guests whose Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort hotel bookings are being impacted by our temporary closures, letting them know they may modify or cancel their Disney Resort hotel reservations or Walt Disney Travel Company packages. Disney is asking Guests who didn’t book directly with Disney to call their Travel Professional. We expect that this notification process will continue one week at a time, including any potential reservations cancelled in June 2020.

There will be no rhyme or reason to their opening except that they have both the staff and distancing in sync...I will venture to say that there is probably a metric mgmt is looking at to maximize the opening.

Something that compares bookings, ticket sales, etc. to anticipated crowds.

Ever been in a Broadway theatre? People were clearly smaller in the 1930s. It’s impossible to not bump knees and elbows with a stranger. Social distancing does not work on Broadway and they won’t run musicals at half-capacity. Theme parks are worlds ahead between outdoor rides and no major problem if a 3D show leaves gaps between groups.

Broadway needs a butt in every seat or you don’t stay open long. And they need tourists. Locals only carry shows for so long.
I'm talking movie theatres. All the modern ones have recliners that offer reserved seats and are pretty large.

According to Florida.gov movie theaters are phase 1 which is now:

"Large Venues: (i.e. movie theaters, concert halls, auditoriums, bowling alleys, arcades, playhouses, casinos) These venues should utilize strict social distancing protocols and should operate at no more than 50 percent capacity, with a minimum of 6 feet separating parties."
Yes, but our state still has movie theatres closed while restaurants are opening at 50% capacity

Something interesting that hopefully doesn't mean anything is that the company I use for my education conferences has cancelled their conference at YC/BC for 7/17-19. That's the only one in July that they've cancelled in the US. Maybe they just didn't have enough attendance. 🤞

Top Golf is opening up on Monday, a few others are too. The attractions at the eye/icon (Sea Life and Madam Tussauds) on I-drive are opening up today.

The CityWalk reopening went well all things considered (Universal did have their act together on it, so it'll be interesting to contrast it with Disney Springs), so I suspect June isn't out of the realm of possibility at all. (Although the limitations may be extreme).

Yep, it looks like the Governor will announce that they are ready and will go to Phase 2 within the next few days. This clears the way for theme parks to open with limits and measures in place if they want to.

Clearly Disney will lag and when they do, it will be with pretty stringent measures and capacity limits but it will be “reopened to guests” nonetheless.

Maybe they're taking the position that meals are more important than being able to see Dolittle.

Social distancing is probably more difficult to maintain in a theater, too. Sure, you can attempt to spread people out, every 2-3 rows and 3-4 empty seats on each side, perhaps, but anyone who's gone to the movies knows that at least half a dozen people in whatever row you decide to sit in will have to get up every two minutes and step on your feet.

Restaurants and movie theaters would both have similar problems with extended exposure to recirculating air-conditioning, something no amount of distancing is going to help, but at least you don't have to worry about getting stepped on at Olive Garden. ;)

It’s interesting that it looks like Universal is slightly ahead of the game on this. We have a trip scheduled for July 14-17 at CBR but if Disney can’t open and UO does I’ll probably switch the reservation over there.

Announced today that the Orange County Convention Center is set to host a volleyball tournament with 30,000 people in attendence on June 16th with the standard saftey measures in place. Not sure if that could be a precursor for the theme parks or not.

This has just been postponed until July 14th.

No.. honestly I haven’t the foggiest when things will be open, not does anyone really. But I do know about some of the HR stuff coming next week.. Union work this week made it possible

Is this related to the order in which CMs might be recalled? Like seniority trumping actual work location?

That may be the pressure Disney needs to get their act together.
