I’m no insider, but that’s when they started taking reservations again so that’s probably where it’s coming from.

Iv’e been guessing early July for a while, but for 1 or 2 parks and some resorts. But everything in full? If true, it will be interesting.

Ok, this again. I have been talking about WDW theme parks reopening. The parks. Not the hotels, not Disney Springs. And just because Disney Springs is open doesn't indicate anything about the parks.

And if you say I'm moving the goalposts, be my guest to go back to the first post of the Coronavirus and WDW thread (which I began) and read. But bring drinks. It'll be quite the slog.

So, if I can go to a movie theater, they can open the largest theme park resort complex on Earth? I don't have to take an airplane to the movie theater. I don't have to invest thousands of dollars to challenge the odds of whether or not I'll actually get into the place. There is so much involved in the parks reopening that has nothing to do with the parks themselves.

You are far more likely to get the park up and running and guest visiting that park before you will get a local health department to approve allowing strangers sitting near each other for two hours in an enclosed air conditioned space.

This is the part I don't understand. How can it be ok to open a restaurant and allow 50% capacity with appropriate social distancing and yet you can't figure out a way to open a much larger space like a movie theatre, block off seats so people beyond your party wouldn't be near each other, and you could even wear a mask if you didn't open up the concessions? That seems like it would be safer than a much smaller space like a restaurant, which is also air conditioned, and people will be around each other for 60-90 minutes.

The air in typical restaurant turns over more often and is more humid than your typical movie theater.

The fact that the dates are only through June 6th lead me to believe they are going to try to start on a Sunday. So... the 7th or the 14th seems plausible. My money would be more likely for the 14th to get cast member training up to snuff, but that could change with new info.

Ever been in a Broadway theatre? People were clearly smaller in the 1930s. It’s impossible to not bump knees and elbows with a stranger. Social distancing does not work on Broadway and they won’t run musicals at half-capacity. Theme parks are worlds ahead between outdoor rides and no major problem if a 3D show leaves gaps between groups.

Broadway needs a butt in every seat or you don’t stay open long. And they need tourists. Locals only carry shows for so long.

According to Florida.gov movie theaters are phase 1 which is now:

"Large Venues: (i.e. movie theaters, concert halls, auditoriums, bowling alleys, arcades, playhouses, casinos) These venues should utilize strict social distancing protocols and should operate at no more than 50 percent capacity, with a minimum of 6 feet separating parties."

This is the thing that I have tried to explain to some friends of mine just because you say they can open, doesn't mean they have to open. Maybe they don't feel it's safe to open. Maybe it's not cost effective to open. Maybe they didn't read the rules on opening.

Exactly. People keep thinking WDW will open as soon as Florida gives them the green light. That's just not true. They have a lot of other issues to contend with as a worldwide travel destination. Remember they closed before Florida had to and will likely follow federal guidance from the CDC far more than Florida.
