All you have to do is hear the comments from the other tourism related industries in Orange Co. (airlines, restaurants, hotels) on the task force to see how very much they are depending on Disney to re-open for their businesses to have a chance to survive. It obviously won't be part of phase 1, but assuming positive cases don't get way out of hand, Disney will be open sooner rather than later. Not at full capacity, and with restrictive measures, but the economy in Florida depends so much on them that it can't wait until a vaccine is found or we have total theauraputic measures in place. Phil Brown, CEO of the Orlando airport said "what he believes is really going to get people back to Orlando is the reopening of the theme parks". Don Giordano, General Manager of Rosen Shingle Creek Resort said "when Disney World opens that brings tremendous confidence to the consumer". Safe, sensible, responsible reopening practices have to rule the day.

Disney doesn't have to rush to open for anyone. They will do it when they feel it's right.

I didn't say they would rush. Just that the rest of the county is looking to them to be the lead dog in the hunt to open safely so that their businesses can follow suit.

Honestly, I see some of the smaller businesses opening before Disney. Then again, I suspect Springs is where it will all start.

Yep, fully agree. I’m still guessing limited opening June 1st and most things open, with measures, by July. I think Springs will begin opening stores in May.

Based on what I’m seeing locally, and on my FB and twitter feeds, support for extended shutdowns is deteriorating daily and the focus is now shifted to getting things opened again with precautions in place.

Yeah, I think we'll see the phased 50-75-100% open approach over the final quarter of the FY. But in order to milk the gov't money, they won't want to get back to business-as-usual until all the guvmint money has been obligated and completely exhausted.

This virus isn't just going to disappear once everything opens again. There is a reason Costco is making everyone wear a mask to shop. This virus will be around for awhile. I think Disney will be at 50% capacity for awhile. Social distancing is going to something we have to get used to. Its not hard to stay 6ft away from others.

That's a great point! It may not be beneficial from a Government bailout perspective, reporting losses, etc. to open too early. That will likely factor in as well......

It's not hard for you or presumably many of us here, but my visits to the grocery store haven't been too encouraging.

Exactly. it's going to be seasonal from now until eternity. that's a forgone conclusion, so there really isn't any reason to slow roll opening stuff back up as long as there are treatable solutions (not the vaccine) to lessen the impact.

Treatable solutions that people adhere to, of course.

Well, sorta. we're currently waiting for our antibody test to come back, but when we had covid symptoms at the end of january early feb we were told to stay home, go on mucinex and tylenol, and that we didn't have the flu. I'm 99% sure we had it (family of 4), but the bad part is we were in WDW when the symptoms hit our son, and then us on the last day. I'm just wondering how many we stealth infected.

Point being, there's a very likely chance that we all will get it sometime in our lives from this point on. Keeping things shut down forever can't stop the inevitable. :/
