It was a photo of a new sign mounted on the outside railing along the TTA track. It said PEOPLEMOVER in large font, and said something too small to read below it.

I assume the roller coaster is even more off in the future now if they're investing so much capital into making repairs and doing work seemingly unrelated to constructing infrastructure for a rollercoaster.

Agreed.

Oh that's what it was...

I remember seeing that on Twitter earlier today. Yeah, I'm glad they are going back to Peoplemover. I would much rather call it Peoplemover than Tomorrowland Transit Authority.

A couple of permits caught my attention...one was the coating of Space Mountain's roof, and the other was a permit filed for a Typhoon Lagoon "project area". I would hope Space Mountain's work entails cleaning the roof so that the top part isn't bright white and the bottom is off-white.

Can anybody shed some light on the work for Typhoon Lagoon? I can't locate where the work is being done over Google Earth.

The coating one seems to be the one I'm more excited about.

Could it be the lights? Or maybe a paint job for it finally!

Maybe lights for the roof? Maybe something new in the lagoon - the whole park needs attention; but anything is better than nothing

Well, I have managed to confuse my daughter many times over the years by calling it "Wedway". But like the song says "It's a step in the right direction"! :animwink:

It wouldn't surprise me if it was part paint job part solar power. There is a "paint" like substance that you can put on almost any surface that turns the object into, basically, a solar panel. Solar Panels can convert appx 15% of sunlight into electricity. Thats a lot of sunlight on top of SM.

It's also very expensive. And as many people on here will be quick to point out, TDO doesn't like spending money.

It's likely just a new roof coating, which they either didn't budget for or didn't have time for during the big rehab.

Yeah your right. It's very likely that that is it.

Although, if TDO spent money on things like solar power to power some attractions during the day, it could save them quite some money in the long run. During the day they can use the solar power, and in the nighttime, they can use electricity, or whatever it is they use to power the attractions.

08/09/10 Update

A few notable permits today...

One Man's Dream refurb is official (as if it weren't already).

They're replacing toll booths at the TTC. Interested to see what the new ones look like.

EDIT: Ha! I said TTA originally. Must have the "peoplemover" on my mind!
