WDW Permits Part 3

Several permits filed by Buena Vista Construction Company (aka, Disney's own forces). Descriptions and locations are vague as usual, but the MK ones got my attention....

One for 1394 Magic Kingdom Drive in Fantasyland. As usual, it's just for "construction", with no specific description of the work. However, the address corresponds to the address for Dumbo (refer to information two paragraphs down).

Another is for "NGE Work" at Space Mountain. Immediately my mind went to "Next Generation [Something]" but that's probably wishful thinking, since nothing that starts with "E" fits the bill. Probably stands for something else...something boring :p

The last MK one is for "Dumbo: Fastpass Clock" and the address given is 1394 MK Drive (refer to two paragraphs up). What confuses me the most is that Dumbo isn't a Fastpass attraction. And I can't imagine that they're adding Fastpass to Dumbo...and even if they are, why would they invest the money before it gets moved west during FLE?

Thanks for the updates.

I believe the 1394 Magic Kingdom Drive address was used interchangeably in the past. Seeing that it is illogical to install a Dumbo FASTPass clock, it could be that the address is used for other parts of the Fantasyland Courtyard. The 1394 address was also used in a permit a while back to modify the planter near Dumbo (which was recently removed). My assumption would be that the permit is applying to the Phillarmagic/Pooh Fastpasses.

Could NGE be "Next Generation Experience"? I believe it is being referred to as that, also. There have been several permits filed lately for Space Mountain following its refurb.

I agree with you that they're probably referring to the relocated Pooh FastPass location, except that the new location was supposed to take effect on July 7, and because the permit specifically says:

MK FL Dumbo FastPass Clock, 1394 Magic Kingdom Drive, Bay Lake, FL 32830

If this were filed by a non-Disney company, I could understand the inappropriate naming, but since it was literally filed by Disney's own in-house construction company, it just makes me scratch my head.

Good theory on Next Gen Experience. It would be exciting to see more of it utilized in the MK.

With the dual spinners, Dumbo could definitely work as a Fastpass attraction, but I was anticipating something similar to the tests over at Rock 'n' Roller coaster where your return window is smaller and it expires.

I agree, and I'm pretty sure that's what they'll be doing with the new Dumbo, but this permit/notice is for work being done now.

As it reads on the permit, I'm thinking it would be for the current Dumbo attraction. Under the description of improvements, it lists "Provide labor, materials and/or equipment to complete construction." As opposed to removal/demolition of something (unless there is some sort of Fastpass clock there I can't think of.)

Since all of the timelines for Dumbo being moved are still fluid, I wonder if Disney is going to spend a little money to test out a new Fastpass strategy for the attraction before they move. It would seem odd, like you said, to spend the money - unless they rather tweak the concept now instead of possibly having to do additional work/renovation on the new Dumbo after it's completed.

Just my opinion, no inside knowledge or anything

Well, they could easily use the PhilharMagic machines for a Fastpass for Dumbo, possibly without even relocating them.

I know they're currenty being used for Winnie the Pooh, but that's only temporary.

Dumbo is supposed to feature the new interactive queue and a traditional fast pass machine might not work for it.

What is going on at Stolport? I noticed that there is a new fenced in parking lot with landscaping and it looks like there are 3 parts of a large portable waiting to be installed?

I'm pretty sure that all or most of the activity at the landing strip is related to the FLE project. Some WDI offices, some staging areas, etc.

Thanks for the news! But I still don't understand why they referred to it as a new 'Fastpass' clock...
Maybe to give an idea of the kind of clock that will be used?

The people who often fill out the Permit Applications/Notices are in clerical or administrative roles. Their Project Manager says, "File for this project" and hands them very minimal information - perhaps just the cover sheet for the drawings being used, if any.

So, the person submitting the application/notice has to fill out the form using the information at hand. Often, you end up with some very vague descriptions (like the one filed by Ermco yesterday for "Mexico Boat Ride"), or wrong descriptions.

Even though this one was filed by BVCC (Disney), it was still probably written up by someone who doesn't know every detail about the job, and just assumed it was a Fastpass Clock. It was good enough for Orange County anyway.
