It's amazing that they need a permit to do some things that seem so small.

I don't know the specifics on the legal requirements, but these aren't exactly building permits (the Reedy Creek Improvement District streamlined the permitting process, or perhaps even eliminated it).

Rather, they're "Notices of Commencement", which is Disney notifying the county that they are making (generally minor) changes/improvements to their property that may change the value of that property.

Correct the actual permits are not available to the public on line. Reedy creek is still required to comply with all Florida building codes and regulations. They just cant build whatever they want as many people think. The big difference between Disney and your average contractor is that their engineers are allowed to say that products and procedures meet Florida code without the scrutiny of a building department. Your run of the mill construction company must use products and procedures approved by the state of Florida. For instance a structural connector or a window must have a Florida approval code for you to use it in construction in Florida. Disney is not unique in this respect either. JEA (Jacksonville Electric Authority) has a similar provision here in Jacksonville.

I swear that building must be holding up Space Mountain or something. Why the heck would they bother to repair it? Unless they are planning to bring back the skyway
It is currently used for storage. From my understanding one of the more notable items up there is the Timekeeper AA.

Now that is something I would love to have and operational of course. Also contains the bathrooms for the area. I think they could find storage elsewhere, but to tear down that building they would definately have to replace the bathrooms somewhere nearby. The ones over by Cosmic Rays could not handle everyone when the park is busy.
