There will be a "media announcement" at the tip board in the Magic Kingdom on 5/5 tenatively at 12:30pm amid the hoopla for the 50th kickoff.

Disney-Geeks, bring a camera!

On the WDW site, on May 5, Epcot is listed as closing at 3pm (from this site, I heard it was for a press function). How can we then attend Soarin's official opening at 9:30pm??

Well, DL is announcing new rides during their media events. Hopefully WDW will have some new ride announcements as well (other than Everest)

Wer'e going to be there those days, and I was wondering what events the general public could attend. I hate to go try to do stuff and it be closed to everyone but the press.

Does anyone know if the "global launch" on May 5 at the Magic Kingdom or the Expedition Everest Sneak Preview at Animal Kingdom will be open for regular guests?

All of these are press events. I will not be attending, as i have a hot woman in town at that time, and have my priorities in order. :D

Well this is surprising! I didn't know that they were going to be announcing anything new. Is this supposed to be something we haven't heard of yet? I was thinking recently of how everything that had been announced within the last few years was all nearing completion and I was wondering what was next. I haven't heard a lot of real speculation, though, besides the old standards that we'd like to see built (Beastly Kingdom, Indy, etc).

Anyone want to speculate or, if you know anything, pretend to speculate?
