I was watching ABC last night when I was going to bed and the guy on their had this big commercial going on about the 50th and how he would be at the HCOE and to tune in at 12 on Thursday for live coverage. Anyone in southeastern mass/ ri it was on abc 6.

Okay I'm getting a little bit perturbed now. My family is going to WDW specifically for the kick-off of the 50th Celebration. We wanted to see all of the festivities -- like the premier of the Motor Stunt show and the Coronation and the Everest announcement and the global link up for the kick-off -- but from what I am reading here that isn't going to happen because everything is for the press. Am I wasting my money? Is this going to be just another day at the World? I'm pulling my daughter out of school for this and if I can't even go to the parks because of early closings due to press events or walk around the park because of cordoned off areas for the press I am going to be soooooooooooo MAD. Does anyone out there know for certain what will be open to the general public and what will not?

No pressure Pam...it's not like EVERYONE here is holding their breath for the new information and the details behind the press releases. :animwink:

:lookaroun :lookaroun pressure?? what pressure? :lookaroun

I will be sending pictures to Steve and hopefully I can post nightly reports of the events. Why do I get the feeling that I will be totally exhausted when I leave???

May 5th? Sorta. You'll see lots of media types, but I only think Epcot will be closing early.

The schedule that peter and InsideOtherPark posted are indeed correct, provided that weather doesn't get into the way like it did today.

The 12:30pm media announcement was on behalf of Disney Hand and it was dealing with the donation to the Boys and Girls Club which was discussed in another thread. It was not, in fact as some tried to make it out to be, an annoucement for future attractions/plans.
