WDW Magic Kingdom Street Party

They are both 100% owned by the Disney Corporation. Ms. Cyrus is, in fact, one of the most successful Audio-Animatronic figures ever built and designed, after Lucky and Eisner.

Eisner was NOT an animatronic. I don't know who told you that, but they were mistaken.(Perhaps a bus driver?) He did have some bionic parts added later in his career, but that's a tale for a different forum. :lookaroun

Lucky was the predecessor of the new AAA1992 Miley Cyrus animatronic though. It's amazing how they can hide those wires!

Disney dance party

Walt Disney World will premier a daily, live-entertainment event called the "Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It! Street Party" in the Magic Kingdom in February.

The event, combining a parade and a dance party, will begin at Town Square and move down Main Street USA to the rhythms of contemporary pop songs such as "Breakout" by Miley Cyrus . The parade will include floats, stilt walkers and Disney characters. Visitors will be encouraged to mix, mingle and dance in the street during the 12- to 15-minute party.

"This is the main idea of the show -- to have the opportunity to play and dance with the characters," Disney Entertainment Producer Gary Gutierrez explained in a note to passholders.

:hurl:
But then I don't care for DHS Pixar Play Parade either. Seems this will be out of character for the Magic Kingdom, especially Main Street.

I cannot believe that Disney would actually waste money on something like this. I'm usually one to say "don't judge a book by its cover", but when the cover has Miley Cyrus on it, I think I'll read something else...
The parade just screams out un-originality and trying to rush in something new and uncreative for the celebration, giving the park new "excitement".

Miley Cyrus pop songs screaming down Main Street for the next celebration? Yay...Everything has become one big commercial for Disney and I don't see them stopping they're excessive Disney Channel star commercialism (Why exactly does every Disney Channel "star" have to have their own t.v. show or spin-off t.v. show?). I wish Disney would gain some sense and focus on the classic movies that they already have, instead of creating the illusion that the new Disney classics are Hannah Montana, High School Musical and Jonas Brothers crap. I think not...

With all due respect...if Disney did not market and cross promote their current HOT properties it would just be bad business.

I think that it sounds like it *could* be fun. My little one loved Block Party at DHS.

I am not focusing on the music part, because that could be changed as different songs become popular.

I agree that we should all wait and see what how it turns out.

Idealy, the music would consist of Disney Mania songs with "Celebrate You" as the show stop, but "just a Miley song" is not O.K. in my book. I guess it's good because it's like one of those celebration-based parades of old, but I have a sinking feeling that it's going to be around for a while... I'm excited as it's finally a new parade for MK, yet I wish it was a classic, movie-based parade (Don't throw things at me please!**He says while dodging rotten "That theme's been done" tomatoes**)

I wish they'd bring back the S&MC Parade at DHS. That screamed "old hollywood" to me rather than this block party thing. BAHHHH. Now another one at the MK? Double BAHHHH :fork:

S&MC did fit the Studios theme perfectly. But, (IMO) it was so...boring. Block Party Bash injected some much needed energy into the park.

As to the original topic, I'm reserving judgement until I see it firsthand (it premiers on my birthday, by the way! ).

I checked out Amazon's 30 second clip of the Miley Cyrus song in question. Verdict: well...I didn't hate it...much.

Sure I don't disagree it was a bit stale. It fit the theming of DHS beautifully and I would not have minded some different classic cars (sorry, but that was a cool thing for a lot of the men/dads)or other characters etc to jazz it up. Maybe some snazzy music or something. I dunno. LOL That's why I don't get paid the big bucks because I'm not an imagineer. I just wish they found a happy medium rather than cutting the S&MC parade all together.

WDW's Magic Kingdom was supposed to get Parade of Dreams from Disneyland to replace Disney Dreams Come True (the current parade), which is an amazing parade! I can't imagine why there was a change in plans to use this instead.

From what i've heard pod has ended its run at disneyland. a new "street show" will deubut in the spring. I belive no parade at disneyland is connected to the repaving of their main street. Perhaps budget cuts, just plain stupid management, or stubborn execs, or a little of each have kept pod in anaheim insted of it coming to wdw? :fork:

Is DDCT going anywhere? I might be misunderstanding this new "street party", but I thought this would be in addition to the traditional 3:00 parade, like the Family Fun Parade from a few years back.

If this is the case, DL's parade could still be on the way at some point.

The Street party will happen more the once a day and will not replace the 3:00 parade. There are changes being made to the 3:00 parade also. There will be changes in the entertianment offerings at MK in early to mid 2009. Give it a chance before you decide to hate it. Just remeber no one is going to force you to watch it.

At first glance this sounds like a bad idea. I don't much care for Miley/Hannah; but I do understand the business behind this decision. My little cousins enjoy Miley/Hannah.

I agree whole heartedly with the comments like, 'What's the connection with Main Street U.S.A.?'. Miley/Hannah are more 'hype & Hollywood' & less 'Main Street U.S.A.'.

Disney has always been good at making us believe they are something that they're not. They're a big business with every decision designed to make us part with as much of our cash as possible. They do it well and I like that fact. Quintessential American entrepreneurship. There is nothing wrong with it when done well & honest, as Disney has for what, 80 years now.

But when they try to mash two ideas together that seemingly have nothing to do with each other then that business model becomes apparent and, in my opinion, the magic is lost.
