The Street party will happen more the once a day and will not replace the 3:00 parade. There are changes being made to the 3:00 parade also. There will be changes in the entertianment offerings at MK in early to mid 2009. Give it a chance before you decide to hate it. Just remeber no one is going to force you to watch it.

Ohh, thank you for that info, I thought it was replacing the 3:00 parade.

From what i've heard pod has ended its run at disneyland. a new "street show" will deubut in the spring. I belive no parade at disneyland is connected to the repaving of their main street. Perhaps budget cuts, just plain stupid management, or stubborn execs, or a little of each have kept pod in anaheim insted of it coming to wdw? :fork:

From the rumors and insider chatter that was discussed on other boards, PoD isn't coming to MK because they were unable/unwilling to upgrade their parade facilities. There were issues with float height apparently. To add insult to injury, now the strong rumor is that PoD is cut altogether at Disneyland, and the only parade-like event for 2009 will be their version of this street party idiocy.

BTW, has anyone noticed that the stateside parks no longer (or at least exceptionally rarely) create any original music for their parades? It seems like it's been like that since the 100 Years of Magic promotion. PoD uses Disney music medleys and a pop version of "Welcome" from Brother Bear; Block Party Bash uses stale party tunes; DDCT uses a borrowed and mangled Tokyo song; Pixar Play Parade at DCA uses a borrowed song from HKDL and a bunch of (admitedly good) peppy older pop tunes. Now the Celebrate campaign entertainment looks like it will uses the "Celebrate You" song, which is original but done more for advertising than entertainment, and Disney Channel junk pop.

Well most Disney parades tend to use Disney songs.....anything wrong with??????

That isn't what I meant. There are many ways to make a parade soundtrack, and many of them are valid (though, I would say taking a bunch of pop songs and not reworking them in any way to create a cohesive soundtrack is not valid at all, but it seems like that's what they're doing with these street parties). I was mostly commenting on the lack of any original songs being made for recent stateside parades, while international parades are still producing them (only to have US parades borrow them).

A lot of my favorite parade soundtracks have a basic theme or even a complete song that all the Disney tunes, medleys, and even pop songs are built upon, mixed with, and added to that gives the entire soundtrack interest and variation. But the basic musical theme is the key, and many times in the past those themes have been unique to that parade. Share a Dream Come True Parade was like this, and Spectro (not to mention Fantillusion and the original Electrical Parade, though I don't believe Baroque Hoedown was written just for the parade), as was Surprise Celebration I believe, and there are countless examples from the international parks, Tokyo in particular. Even the Pixar Play Parade music that I mentioned before has this format, though it uses a borrowed song as its theme, and then mixes it with pop tunes. The music for DDCT was originally created in the theme & variation format for Tokyo's Disney Dreams on Parade: Moving On, but MK turned it into a monotonous one note tune when it was imported.

I'm just wanting Disney to create more original music for their parades, it keeps it interesting and adds to the Disney music library.

Don't forget about the very new, original soundtracks for Once Upon A Christmastime and Enchanted Adventures, along with the fairly new soundtrack for Boo To You.

wow... reading this board is a hoot.

I won't say what info is accurate or what info is COMPLETELY wrong... I will leave it all up to you and your opinions once it has officially opened.

Thank you.

This sounds more like a "What Will You Celebrate" replacement for the Family Fun Day "Parade"...

(Though I'll admit, the Family Fun Day, while a bit corny, fit with Main Street's theme better than what I'm reading this new thing will...)

Where did you get the info, that this party was not going to be a replacement for the 3:00pm parade, but an extra event like the Family Fun Parade?

this is widely reported and the parade is still on the official schedule for 2009. Of course, anything can change--Disneyland did just cancel their Parade of Dreams for all of 2009...

I heard about plans for this about a year ago, (I think) before the whole Celebrate theme was released, so I didn't really know what it would be for. Back then, the plans for it actually sounded pretty cool. Granted, I haven't heard too much in the new plans that sound like the old plans, so the budget tightening could have already taken a toll on it. My point, though, is that I think it already has a bit of a negative stigma just because of the celebration it's attached to. We should probably withhold judgement now, and wait to see what it really turns out to be like.

And just a couple of clarifications-

*the street party was never meant to replace DDCT or PoD; it has always been planned to be in addition to it. DDCT is going through a makeover to fit the new celebrate theme, so I imagine it is pretty safe from the axe. PoD however, wasn't so lucky (even though they had already worked on a new intro and new music for the show stop that matched the theme)

* the new theme and the street party had nothing to do with PoD not coming to WDW. Those decisions were set in motion a little while ago due to other circumstances. There still is a very slight chance that WDW will see PoD, but it isn't likely.
