WDW literally falling apart

From all the pics it looks like ground level damage, from ECV or similar, which then resulted in the entire face being removed in various stages. I dont think any of this is maintenence related.
If you were removing panels piece by piece you wouldn’t yank off a panel and leave the sconce attached. You also would not be smashing a panel to break it in half to remove it (the arch piece). These photos suggest damage extending well beyond the ECV.

We’re going round in circles. My point was that half the door didn’t simply fall to the ground, which is what some here seemed to believe happened.

I’m not sure how an underlying adhesion issue can be attributed to poor maintenance if the issue was previously hidden [ETA: unless, as @UNCgolf suggested, there was some sort of leak that went unaddressed].

I don't see any way that the panel that extended over the door could have been removed manually. That would have required ladders, or a lift (as seen in a later photo) and proper fencing off of the area. I doubt they brought in that equipment, removed the left side, took the equipment away and then brought it back to remove the right side.

Well, we know that they must have removed the two undamaged panels manually, so clearly some sort of intervention took place before any photographs were taken.

Ultimately, the distinction probably doesn’t matter much as it’s troubling no matter how you slice it, but I don’t think the idea that part of the cornice broke during the initial collision is mutually exclusive of the belief that maybe the entire left side didn’t spontaneously lose all cohesion and disintegrate.

I don't know that those two panels were removed manually. They could have fallen and not been damaged and someone just leaned them up against the wall.

Why are you assuming it’s a maintenance issue? The report you refer to states, “Cast Members we spoke to speculated at that an electric wheelchair struck the facade and then the large portion fell down, but that is unconfirmed at this time.”
This is a maintenance issue. But to be clear, the gripe is not against the maintenance cast members, the maintenance issue is too much to maintain and not enough people to do it.

How did WDW get here. It’s so easy to blame COVID and I am sure TWDC will be playing the COVID card for decades to come, it’s probably true WDW lost a lot of good people when they laid them off via e-mail when the pandemic started and those folks left for better jobs.

I suppose anything is possible. In the absence of further information, I’m choosing not to automatically blame WDW maintenance. A few burnt-out lightbulbs and jerky animatronics (the kinds of maintenance issues that WDW is often, and rightly, criticised for) are very different from collapsing structures (a problem I don’t recall coming up before in the forum, even if some here are treating such extreme shoddiness as par for the course with today’s Disney).

It'll be interesting if we ever find out exactly what happened. I doubt we will from Disney, since there's no real reason for them to explain.

I think it’s in their interest to explain if the issue wasn’t to do with poor maintenance, if only to shut down speculation to the contrary.
