My son won't like it, either. He's taken the power squadron course, and was looking forward to renting one on a future trip. It's too bad; he probably knows more about boating safety than the majority of "adults" renting one.

The prices are about 20 for a half hour and 30ish for the full hour.

I think the prices may vary depending on where you are. Certain waterways may be slightly cheaper than others.

No, I'm pretty sure you don't. Anybody will be happy to take your money!

If it is a problem, I would suggest Downtown disney...head they had the boats too.

When I stayed at the Grand Floridian, they didn't ask if I was staying...or did they...I charged it to my room.

Go gamble, its worth it. Seven Seas if fun stuff (when theres few people on the lake).

OK, thanks Paul. Now one more question. Apparently there seem to be more than one area to use them. Which is the best area, as in space, and people allowed at one time to surf.

All I know of is GF, POLY, W. Lodge (FORT W. too?) Contemp. all use the Seven Seas and Bay Lake..

There is also the Carribean which has its own boats...and waterway.

Downtown Disney.

Epcot Resort area should have them, I can only assume....

If you mean, surf 'surf'...only Typhoon lagoon wave pool has that.

I prefer Seven Seas...lot of ground you can cover...You're right by the MK. But its also the only one I've been on.

Why...planning a trip?

I don't know if you have to be a guest or not, but I've been asked for Resort Id at the Polynesian & Contemporary.

oooh....

Man, that would suck if you had to be a guest...I love SSlagoon! Maybe I/ll rent a camping spot at Fort Wilderness just to get in up there. lol (am on 5 hours of sleep).

It's been some years since I rented, but I did so from the Grand Floridian and The Contemporary. I had to supply ID (my driving licenece) and leave it with them whilst I had the boat. They would hire to anyone with ID, not just resort guests.

I zipped all over the Seven Seas Lagoon - it was was fun hitting the wake of the ferry boats and went over the aquaduct to the lake (Bay Lake?) on the the other side of the Contemporary.

edit - I was not a resort guest

Oops - just editied the post. I was NOT a resort guest when I rented. I doubt they have changed the rules.

Depending on the two people's displacement yes there is room for two.

It something I always wanted to do as a kid.

totally worth it. You can just do the half hour in Seven Seas and get around just find...you don't need the full hour...but it might be fun!

I know at the GF, they have a nice snackbar near by...very affordable.

We did the hour for two boats - and had a blast with no hurries, think we made 7 - 8 rounds of the 7 Seas Lagoon..

Then did it again the next day with 3 boats. lol
