Yup... I figured it would be a new celebration. I was wondering when they would announce it, and here it is. Yippie-skip.

Honestly though, after seeing the demonstration video of the new projector, I am amazed how something with SO MUCH POTENTIAL could be TOTALLY WASTED on this fecal matter of an idea. No one wants to see pictures of other people!

I'd rather see a new fireworks spectacular using the projector for added effects, like they did on Wishes with the Sorcorer's Hat being projected on the castle, just on a bigger scale.

Funny, I'm seeing all the other parts of the video besides the photos as a sign they are seeing how the projector could be used for added effects, but that's just me.

That's what I meant; I just worded it terribly. After seeing the effects of what the projector can do, what I'm suggesting is that they make a new fireworks show utilizing the special effects, such as Tinkerbell, and the under water effect.

The fact that they want to use this projection system mainly to project a slide show is sad to me.

Anyone have anykind of idea what (if any) of the in-park decorations might be? I really hope we don't end up with pictures of random familes wearing Goofy hats or eating Mickey ice creams stenciled to the monorails or hanging on banners at the entrance turnstiles. :dazzle:

Not major...they called it exciting and special:

"It’s time – we’re ready to raise the curtain on some exciting plans at Disney Parks and it’s something you’ll certainly want to check out. Our live stream of the special announcement begins right here on the Disney Parks Blog today at 12:45 p.m. EST. You can watch it here:"

No and no.

Well after that presentation, I think that they must have meant SPECIAL in a short bus kind of way.

For the first time ever, I am pretty sure that I would prefer that cake again.

I shudder to think what the marketing people might come up with. It can't be much worse than those balloons! How many people would be happy with a celebration that consisted of ..... nothing....but something real. How about giving WDW a year free of marketing junk and giving us a real reason to visit - a new major attraction.

The more I think about it, the more annoyed I am at the PG-rated language that slipped into this stream. I don't have a problem with some "grown-up" talk in a movie or TV show that clearly carries a PG or higher rating, but this was presented as a Disney corporate announcement. Absent some disclaimer, that automatically says "family friendly" to me. It's possible some folks gathered their youngest kids around the computer to see what big announcement Disney had up their sleeves, with no way of knowing how "edgy" this production was going to be. I hope this doesn't set some kind of precedent.

I agree with you about the language and jokes. I would have liked it to be more professional.

I am just not understanding about how seeing other people on the castle is exciting. I just think it will be strange to start seeing a type of advertising on the castle. Will they be advertising Pecos Bill burgers and Mickey premiums next on the castle? It sounds strange to me.

I agree, I can live with projections on a castle and the ad campaign is a good ( but not great) one in my opinion but the lack of quality, magic and simple professionalism from the event in general is what upsets me the most. The event just wasn't up to the Disney standard and shouldn't have been streamed at all.

No way! I'll take stupid pictures over that cake anyday!

Really? Have you seen the majority of Disney guests? Pictures of these same people that you had to endure in the lines and the heat all day, do you really want to see their ugly mugs up on that beautiful castle? I sure don't. Bring on the pepto pink!

But with the cake you can't even SEE the beautiful castle! At at least the pictures are temporary, and only at night. The cake was there 24 hours, 7 days a week!
