I have heard of crazy bees at AKL a few years ago but I have never seen a bee or a wasp at Disney World. I hope this isn't some kind of new budget cut where they cut back on spraying the property thoroughly.
OMG, this is just awful. In your case, I hope Disney comped you something.
So now Disney is responsible for compensating someone for getting stung while outside? Do I have to compensate someone if they get stung while sitting on my patio?
Sorry but I do not expect Disney to spray for insects. I actually would prefer they didn't. Randomly spraying chemicals around a highly populated area is not smart and most bugs are beneficial whether we like them or not.
I am sure that they do spray for insects, and I agree that we really need to be careful about chemicals that kill bees, we need bees and they are being killed at an alarming rate.
LOL. Again, the poster is a *paying* hotel guest, so it is not an unreasonable expectation for him to make use of the hotel pool and other facilities without worrying about getting attacked and stung by wasps.
We are not talking about one or two random sting bites -- the poster was attacked by a wasps nest and suffered multiple bites. So yes, he was definitely inconvenienced to put it mildly.
The hotel should not be performing maintenance duties nearby while guests are using the pool or facilities. If this was an emergency they should have just closed it. The maintenance workers chopped down the wasps nest, so this was preventable.
I don't think anyone should expect to be attacked by a swarm of wasps *anywhere* -- especially, not at a hotel pool.
The poster said he was attacked and bitten by wasps, I wasn't there so you can take that up with him.
With that said, I respect and understand your point, too. But, I *totally* disagree.
Yes it is quite unreasonable. Despite the best pest management program you could ever think to implement, there is a chance you are going to be stung when outside.
No not when it is an obvious problem that Disney can do something about very easily by spraying. I'm sorry someones life trumps people being offended by chemicals, and even if you have an epi pen with you your trip is ruined and it could be prevented by sparaying when there is an obvious problem, and besides that them being all in and around the soda fountain where drinks come out is just plain nasty.
This is where you are wrong. There is nothing easy about controlling pests. And spraying too many chemicals could be far more harmful to people's health and lives than a few bees or wasps.
