I'm curious to the response that Disney would currently give if they were asked about possible insect/mosquito problems in light of the alligator tragedy that took place. I'm guessing that their response would be "we have never witnessed a mosquito or insect flying in our parks. Please let us know if you see one, but we're positive they don't exist." Just ridiculous with some of the PR that Disney puts out there. It makes me laugh and angry at the same time.

I have seen them but usually only in the summer, in Aug/Sept there are "love bugs" (not sure what the real name of them are) everywhere but they are pretty harmless I don't even think they actually bite.
I will take a few bees and wasps over swarms of love bugs any day!!!!!
I'll even take them over noseeums!!

Pretty hard to spay a wasp.
You have to have a very tiny scalpel.
If you do it consistently it does, I manage to keep them off my outside property, it just amazes me how little concern people have about the huge number of people with life threating allergies to these useless bugs.
I guess we have found someone that has never been to "It's Tough To Be A Bug". Useless, as long as you have no desire to eat or look at flowers or you want to be up to your armpits in filth. Perhaps you would sell your system to others. Sounds like a fantastic system, one that keeps nature at bay. Is it sorta like the infamous cone of silence that was used on Get Smart?

Humorous, but you know that Disney has never denied the presence of Alligators or any other wild animals on the property. Even they are not that stupid. However, they have built an ecosystem that is more inviting for them outside of the parks and have taken every precaution that is possible to prevent them from being a threat as long as idiots stop feeding them. But, since we all know that idiots cannot be taught things, then it will probably continue and someone will make a post, in humor, that many people will take seriously, that they deny any existence. They, of course, do not deny that they are there, what they do say is if you use common sense, they will probably not bother you. That part is true, but, also impossible for people to grasp.

OMG, @ninjaprincesst! I can't believe you and I *finally* got this thread back on track (thank you). And, thank you for responding back to me so quickly!!! I didn't even get a chance to respond back to you *first* but I responded as fast as I could, though.

At least you can see that I am *genuine*. I'm not going to make fun of you and laugh at you for a silly typo on one page and then have the nerve to act totally fake like I am your BFF or something on the very next page. Gosh, that's like so pathetic. LOL.

Anyway, OMG! Love bugs are just so disgusting to me. And, if I ever see one of those double headed ones I will totally pass out. The only thing worst than love bugs are those huge flying Palmetto bugs that look like flying roaches. And, the snakes and spiders and giant mosquitoes and real roaches. I am totally anti-insect with the exception of bees and that's only because we need them.

I've visited Disney World in late August before but I have been super fortunate to have never seen mosquitoes, bugs or love bugs.

The first time I went in August, I thought there were going to be bugs everywhere so I purchased plenty of OFF mosquito repellent. Then, I had a serious lapse of judgment and packed it along with my sunscreen in my carry on and TSA took all of it. I was so glad that I packed my perfume and stuff in my checked luggage, otherwise I would have had to miss that flight. LOL. I had to purchase some more sunscreen in Orlando but I didn't need the OFF at all. I couldn't believe there were *no* mosquitoes.

With that said, I have never seen so much rain in my life. We still had a lot of fun, though and the parks were so empty!

Try May and September. Let one fly into your hair and then we'll talk how harmless they are. Also, there are less of them if it is dry than when it is a rainy year. Oh btw, their scientific name is Plecia nearctica and they're very beneficial to the ecosystem.

There are no double headed love bugs. They are simply two joined together hence the name "love bugs."
Secondly, I don't understand why feel that you have to go around here proving that you are "genuine."
Who cares?! If you really are genuine after awhile people will realize it. I never had to prove anything here.

I just have to ask- where do you live that bugs don't exist? As for "double headed love bugs". They don't have 2 heads. It's 2 joined together.

Again, I have yet to see any mosquitoes or flying insects at Disney World but I only go once a year.

I have read reports of crazy bees at AKL a couple years ago but nothing since then. And, I know there must be a few insects flying around here and there but it mostly appears to be random or specifically around the soda machines. At least, I hope it is.

Also, I noticed that whenever someone complained about excessive or problematic insects directly to Disney -- they responded by treating the area asap. Overall, I think Disney does a pretty good job!

Like, omg, you totally are genuine.. For sure, totally, like, OMG!!! Please...

Don't like bugs? Don't do Central Florida then. You like totally know WDW was built on swampland right? Like totally it was for sure!

They do take measures to control what they can, but the El Niño patterns this year are making it tough to keep up. Where I am, we just got done a really bad Mayfly season.

So like you totally need to deal with bugs everywhere! Even WDW valley girl Barbie!

Oh wow, thanks. I hope I never see a love bug in person. LOL.

Now, I had planned to *genuinely* respond to you but now I see your crazy boyfriend is here, too. The two of you *together*? And, I don't have any meme's or anything on hand right now. No way. I'm totally out.

With that said, you both share such an *amazing* and powerful chemistry -- there is no denying it. And, I really like seeing you both together but only from a distance and certainly not on the receiving end!

Hi Sateen! I just *love* how you are always there for @mouse_luv! It's so beautiful to me.

Ugh, for some strange reason I just can't go there with you or @mouse_luv. My spirit wont allow me, this totally sux -- there is just way too much love in the air here between you two. You even have similar names that begin with 'Mouse' -- that's so adorable.

You're such a cute couple just like Ma & Pa Kettle or Mr. & Mrs. Smith or even Bonnie & Clyde. Probably more like Mr. & Mrs. Smith, though.

Oh, and to answer your post. Yes, I know there are bugs everywhere, which is why it's great not to seen them prevalent at Disney World.

Btw, a friend of mine at work who was just in Disney, had a bus driver tell him that when Indiana Jones is expanded, there will be a new restaurant.

They're apparently still working the bugs out for the menu!

LOL. Well, I've got nothing....

For now.

LOL. I have absolutely *no* interest in you or your little *love* life. LOL. It was just a joke, it totally frightens me how you can take this seriously. But whatever. I have been a member here for almost *four* years and I have never bothered you nor will I and I have *never* spoken to you not *once* -- for good reason, as demonstrated here. I went against against my better judgement today, but I won't *ever* make that mistake again. LOL.

You are really bad at interpreting posts and I suggest you think before you post if that's possible. Now that you've brought it up you actually have bothered me in a previous thread somewhere on this forum and I thought you were just as much a "space cadet" then. That's all I have to say on this. Just a hint stop coming at people that have been here for years (way longer than your 4 where you hardly posted until recently) and calling us all trolls and trying to control threads. You are not a moderator and for good reason, so please stop. As for the stuff about bf/gf's you were the one that started the crazy talk in this thread about that kind of thing, otherwise it wouldn't have come up. Stop making assumptions about other posters here. How's that for off-topic?

1. There's a difference between your property and a theme park, though

2. Bees arent THAT useless in certain aspects of life.

3. People have allergies to plant life and everything else of the sort but you dont see them calling for those to be wiped out

4. You cant control nature. That's like people saying you can keep the alligators off the Disney property completely when they're native to the state of Florida.

It's physically impossible to keep bees away from guests at Disney 24/7.

I had a baby snake in my room at Poly last time, the morning we were checking out. Not gonna lie- totally creeped me out when I noticed it
Housekeeping was out in the hallway, poor woman looked more frightened than I was when she saw it. She called someone at the front desk and I'm sure they came and removed it. End of story.

I imagine that if the same thing would have happened to a lot of people on Disney message boards- they would have demanded their entire 9 nights be comped. I wasn't on any boards at that time, the thought never even crossed my mind. Not that I would ask for it now anyway. No harm, no foul. Things happen. Accept what part of the country you are in, especially if you are outdoors.

Woke up one morning at OKW in 2014 and there was one of those lil tiny salamander things in bed with my husband and I ...we screamed...laughed...showed the kids...picked it up and put it outside and continued on like nothing happened...of course we're normal people tho....so......yeah.....

That's funny! Cheers to normal people!! The world needs more of them for sure.
The worst is when you're out of town and somehow a lizard dies while clinging to the wall in your shower. Maybe worse is when scorpions have decided to take up residence in your laundry room. Lol
You should stay clear of the Low Country of SC. We got bugs everywhere. No see'ums being the worse I would say, sometimes they're so thick you end up eating them, they fly into your eyes, up your nose. Lucky no see'ums are only out at very specific times of year.

We also have palmetto bugs which live outside most of the time. Giant flying **** roaches are what those are. Leave your door open, lights on and you will have palmetto bugs in your house along with small lizards.

Wasps? I have maybe 6 different species in my back yard. Bees? My neighbor has a hive, I like those since I grow fruit trees. You need bees for a pollinator.

Misquotes? They are simply a way of life. Deet will kill up before they do so unless they are really out in force I don't do anything about them.

One of my favorites is the tree frogs, you have lived until one jumps on your face sticking to it.

WDW should have all these critters in fact I always wondered how them keep them away or kill them? WDW must be one super saturated land of pesticides.
I think I said this earlier, but I'll say it again. I would take a few bees and wasps in the vicinity over noseeums and love bugs any day!!!

Got stung at Typhoon Lagoon trying to refill my cup... i only stood there, wasn't even trying to swat the damn things... the cast members were nice as anything but why on earth can't disney keep these pests in check? blizzard have the mist machines which keeps them away from the fountains.
I agree that wasp's are annoying, one stung me in a business deal and it still hurts. No mist was going to prevent that mess.
