There's good and bad things about them, but I think anyone that thinks they have your best interest at heart is being naive. They just want their union dues. They tend to be pretty corrupt.

More corrupt than board rooms or halls of political power?

Unions were made to fight that type of corruption.

Unfortunately, with almost any human organization, corruption can set it. That's why it's important to have separation of powers and robust transparency laws.

5 years ago CM's were making $9/hr. Now we're making $13, $14 in October and $15 next year. Yeah, I'd say that my $5/week union dues are worth it.
I'm glad it's working out for you. It doesn't always work out for all union members. What's the minimum wage? That doesn't seem like a great wage increase in 5 years. The minimum wage in our state was 8.00 in 2015 and now it's 12.00.

I have seen unions where this is true but I think on balance in most unions the membership have taken back the power from some of the oligarchical structures that developed in the 60s and 70s. Particularly when it comes to unions that represent private sector workers.

I Can’t speak directly to the Disney unions but know if I ran a union and genuinely had my members interests at heart, I’d be doing basically what these unions are doing.

Bit broad. Lots of entertainment is non-equity (fur & face characters, dancers, etc). However, all live singers and actors are equity.
True, many people in the Entertainment department are not, but the live show entertainment is; it depends how you use the word. ;)

Either way, it’s an East Coast thing. It’s also why the WDW show choreography cannot be as complex as in Tokyo or DL. The kicks and such are highly regulated unless someone specializes in certain stunts. It’s complicated. Think Legend of the Lion King versus a Castle Stage show. *shrug*

It gets complicated. Even within live shows things may not be Equity. Festival of the Lion King for example has equity performers, but many performers in the show are not equity.

Well.. no it’s not that simple. Beauty and the beast is “live show entertainment” but not everyone onstage is equity.

Citizens of Main Street and Main Street Philharmonic are both “live show entertainment” but only citizens are equity.

And then there is 3rd party “live show entertainment” like the juggler in Italy and the acrobats in France.

At Disneyland there is still a union, it’s a sister of actors equity AGVA. They have a different agreement which covers everyone performing which does allow for more complex choreography in parades since the agva covers the parade performers and the equity agreement at Disney does not.

Is the consumption suspended or the sale of it? I think consumption is about to skyrocket.
We are still awaiting the full language of the rule but it looks like they are rewinding a few stages back to the point where you cannot consume alcohol onsite but restaurants can sell it as a take-out item for take-away orders.

too many people wanting to be selfish and stupid.

This will be interesting, especially with the announcement of the condensed food and wine festival starting opening day. Wonder if it will be sales, or not. like if people can walk with it. will be interesting. At least i can still eat the snacks!
