Absent the OC or FL making it illegal to be in the parks without a face covering, the best thing the park operators can do is very swift and strict enforcement of it, with security personnel in uniform to back it up. The ride attendants and vendors should not be charged with enforcement.
Airports and airlines where they are mandatory aren't enforcing it. I don't think Disney will either. Yellow shirt reminder CMs are the most you'll get.

If they are locking down new reservations, i wonder if that means if your booked you are good, but if your not, you cant, or to allow room to move people from the rest of june and july.
My interpretation is you're good to go and you are a priority but you still have to make a reservation when to go to the parks cause the parks are limiting capacity.

The goalposts have now been set. After weeks of speculation in communities like this, and week by week cancellations by Disney themselves, we have a mark in the sand. I have no problem with what Disney is doing and how they are doing it. And this information does not change my opinion on my September trip. At 8:00 am this morning it was wait and see, and as I type this at 12:30 pm, it is still wait and see.

I don't get what the kerfuffle is over mandatory masks. The policy is in place to protect Disney's keister in case someone goes to WDW, doesn't wear a mask, and somehow over the course of their trip contracts the virus. Not sure of the legal term, but it's the same one that has that stupid "don't use a hair dryer in a full bathtub" and "this bag is not a toy" warnings. I am sure Disney will try to enforce it in certain circumstances, but yeah, with thousands of people spread out over a large area, impossible to strictly enforce. And of course, it's a viral video waiting to happen. You don't want to wear a mask, take it off as soon as you pass under the train station after gaining entry.

My whole mask attitude is what makes me comfortable. As of right now, I am pro-mask. I am all about decreasing odds of something bad happening. If wearing a mask lowers my odds even a half percent, and better yet, makes me feel better, then why not? You don't want to wear one? Fine. Just don't get miffed if I move away from you.

As for social distancing on Main St, everything I have seen in regards to this is social distancing really comes into play if you are going to be close to someone for an extended period of time. Parades and fireworks? You will be standing cheek and jowl with others for at least 20-30 minutes, maybe more. Walking down Main St? Not even a second. While it would be nice to maintain distances, common courtesy (which I know not everyone who goes to WDW has) dictates giving as much space as possible when you can.

104 days until my trip. As of right now, I am still going. And TBH, I don't know what my requirements would be for a no-go decision. It all depends on how I feel in 97 days (or whenever I can cancel and get full refund).

(FWIW - I was one of the 287 who picked July. yay me!!)

I expect you'll see the resorts open in waves based on the expected actual demand. For example, they are not going to have a resort open and then only be at 40% occupancy. They'll reduce the number of open resorts at the beginning to match the actual demand and then add resorts as the demand increases. Folks who have a reservation now 'may' get moved to a different resort of their currently booked one is not going
This one has already been proven wrong. I'm kind of surprised that they are opening what looks like all the resorts on the 11th, but that may be a detail that hasn't emerged just yet as they work out all the details. With the planned ramp of the parks, the details on this one will be interesting to watch. They will certainly not need all of their room capacity at least through the summer.

I think you are right. The true depth of the economic recession will set in after the first rush of fans and passholders slow down. If the virus respikes in the fall all bets are off.
This is what all the cries for “reopen now!” At Disney parks have ignored since day 1. So Johnny from kisssimmee can go for 2 hours and ride soain’?

Much bigger problems for Disney.
Wow. They are really sticking it to DVC owners. That’s borderline criminal to do. I hope they offer people who have a reservation between June 22 and July 15 all the same cancellation benefits as they did when the resorts were closed. If not that’s really poor. We are within 30 days of that date so if they force cancelled points into a holding account that would be really messed up. No way should the resorts open before the parks.
Why yes...yes they are.

This episode has taught us how Disney views DVC and it isn’t with “esteem”
Yeah, that's really rough. While technically DVC ownership doesn't guarantee park access, I mean, come on. 99% of DVC members are going down there to visit Disney parks. Not to hang out at OKW and maybe visit Disney Springs.
Yep...dry...nothing to grease the skids

Anyone brought up that people having 6/22 dates are pretty much locked in to go? Part of that is to clear the decks of points...parks or no.

This is true, but I've seen widespread public resistance to the simple task of covering your mouth magnitudes beyond any resistance to lowering a lap bar on a roller coaster.
They are trained to enforce rules outside of their area as well. Walking through the park and see a child climbing a tree? It’s their responsibility to ask them to get down. See someone smoking in the park? It’s their responsibility to direct them to the correct smoking area. Just as they are responsible for helping, they are also responsible for enforcing. This will be part of whatever new training the company will implement before they re-open.

Could you not just add the gift card to your room reservation and bill to the room, or is this a scenario where you are staying offsite?

You aren't able to add a gift card to your account at the resort. If you charged through your band you could pay off the bill the night before checkout with a gift card. Paying for mobile orders was immediate so it never wound up on the bill. At least that's how it was in December.

I don't live in a vacuum, I know Disney is a business...but I think this will be a mistake. Companies don't care about customer's health, they only want to give the impression they do.

On the flip side, I can totally see Disney limiting admissions to 50% while rebranding passes with a 175% price. Buy the new "Quarantine Magic" experience!

You can do that, but it's a pain, and if your room balance gets too high before you add the gift card, they charge your credit card. Many other companies' apps have this capability; Disney just needs to catch up to ~2015 technology.

I'm trying to log into my Disney experience account and it's been doing this for the last 15 min. 🤔

It’s kinda like “economic terrorism”, eh, Hans? 😉
