News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

A few other things to remember here. First, masks will get very sweaty quickly, and once damp will harbor bacteria, which can cause other infections. I don’t think Disney really wants that to happen either. My bet is they expect to be able to cancel the mask requirement before or shortly after they reopen.
I think that was the plan for sure when they were thinking of a later opening. Now that they pushed up all bets are off. If Universal and Sea World have masks effectively for a month then Disney will. If they abandon by mid-July Disney might. Waiting for real national phase 3 would have made no masks likely...but this is what we got instead. It’s a lot harder to open with masks and then remove the requirement then to not open with them in the first place.

"Because theme park capacity will be significantly limited as we welcome guests back to the magic, we will manage attendance through a new theme park reservation system that will require all guests to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance. At this time, we are temporarily pausing new ticket sales and Disney Resort hotel reservations so we can focus on guests with existing tickets and reservations (Disney Vacation Club members can still make new reservations). Existing ticket holders and Annual Passholders will be able to make reservation requests in phases before new tickets are sold; we’ll be reaching out to these guests soon to provide additional details. We will resume new ticket sales and hotel reservations after that period of time. Theme park reservations will be limited due to attendance limitations and will be subject to availability. More details about this new reservation system will be available soon.

So noooow they decide to stop allowing new reservations.

The CO2 is NOT TRUE. I was worried about the same until a friend who works in health-care set me straight.

BUT what about the FLORIDA SUN and all the OTHER factors that come into PLAY WHEN you wear a MASK in very HOT weather?? The CORONAVIRUS can be ABSORBED into the MASK and you will BREATHING it in. ALSO what if you WEAR GLASSES? They will STEAM up from all the HEAT and STEAM caused by the MASKS.

I still don't understand why Disney hasn't allowed this earlier.
Cause most guests visiting the parks are a mixture of locals, out of state and tourists a around the world. Not every country is accustomed to cashless payments. Most still prefer to bring and pay in cash.

Additionally, Disney Vacation Club resorts at Walt Disney World will reopen to members and guests and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground will begin to reopen on June 22. Disney Vacation Club resorts in Vero Beach, Florida, and Hilton Head, South Carolina, will also open to members and guests starting on June 15. Plans to support required physical distancing as well as enhanced cleaning measures, along with a number of other safety and cleanliness protocols, will be implemented as part of this planned phased reopening. "

I noticed that as well, I wonder how far out in advance they will be doing this for "existing ticket holders"? Will people who have packages with tickts in December be given the opportunity to reserve park days, or will this just be done for the summer months?

My glasses get steamed up from the masks even when I'm in a climate-controlled store...it just is what it is.

I think you are right. The true depth of the economic recession will set in after the first rush of fans and passholders slow down. If the virus respikes in the fall all bets are off.

Bingo every industry will see this:
  1. Superfans will resume normal activities (entertainment, autos, travel, hotels, sports, restaurants, etc...)
  2. Spikes will occur. But again the reason for shutdown was lack of resources/services and logicitics--now manageable. City/states will just manage it ad hoc. Feds will do nothing.
  3. Unemployment will become permanent as companies move from temporary to permanent layoffs to boost stock $. Economy will "look" ok.
  4. Rinse, repeat

There are a bunch of countries halfway around the world who does have the same climate as Florida or even hotter and masks are mandated and you see them complying. If they can do it, why can't we?

It will also not be absorbed into the mask unless you touch the mask contaminated and you touch your face.

If you are referring to contactless payment, that has been in place since late 2014. They started taking ApplePay and GooglePay on Christmas Eve that year. I use ApplePay almost exclusively when I'm at the parks. It is not supported at some of the third party merchant locations and you cannot yet use it at a table service restaurant. But all merchandise and counter serve locations have supported contactless payment for many years now.

The first sentence: as a Florida local who has gone outside with a mask on regularly, it's called wearing a mask with breathable material.

Second sentence...no...just...no.

And as someone who wears glasses, you can literally look it up on YouTube to prevent steaming up of glasses. That easy.

Per previous announcements, your pass will be extended from its original expiration date by the total number of days the parks were closed. Now that we know the opening dates, they'll be able to finalize the program code and schedule the update to everyone's expiration dates. Once they do that, the new expiration date will show in your MDE profile.
From an AP perspective, are the parks "open" if you can't get a reservation needed to take advantage of your unlimited admission?

If they are locking down new reservations, i wonder if that means if your booked you are good, but if your not, you cant, or to allow room to move people from the rest of june and july.

This is referring to using mobile order and paying with a gift card loaded into the app. It was not possible as of last fall.
