Travel and absolutely increased spread. There‘s really no way to deny that.
Absolutely there is a way , you do realize most states have zero travel restrictions. But let’s not debate that anymore it is getting old, agree to disagree. Sure travel spreads it but I said travel restrictions don’t make that much of a difference

So the New York new policy now is basically just a 3 day quarantine with negative test on the fourth. that is a hug improvement. You take the first test prior to coming into the state.

eta - making the change before thanksgiving, one of the biggest travel weekend is great news
Its more like a week for people traveling out of state then coming home. If you visit WDW for example how many people are going to leave the resort to get a Covid test before coming home. Most will get the first test the day they come home then you have the 3 day wait and 2nd test on day 5 and assuming it comes back in 48 hours later it will be day 7 when you get The result. Still better than waiting 14 days but not only 3 days in most cases.

If we both agree travel spreads the virus and travel restrictions prevent some people from traveling then how exactly do you conclude that they don’t make a difference. You are preventing some people from doing something that we both agree spreads the virus.
He moved the goalpost , I never said travel doesn't spread it like he said I did
Stop with the goal posts, it’s a pretty basic concept. Even if not everyone follows or cares about travel restrictions there are still some people that will. Reducing out of State travel (during times of high case counts) reduces the overall spread.

Again I am not discussing travel spreads virus, You are the one moving the goal posts not me so I agree stop it with the goal posts

I have no idea what you are talking about at this point. You said this:
You had me till the last sentence ;) travel restrictions have not really done anything IMHO

So we agree, travel spreads the virus. So if travel restrictions reduce the amount of travel overall and travel spreads the virus then how can you say the restrictions did nothing, or are you saying the restrictions didn’t reduce travel? That’s definitely not the case.

It is interesting that in CT and MA, unlike NY, you only need one C19 test in the 72 hours prior to your flight, second test not needed. So in CT and MA, you don't need to quarantine at all if you have a negative test prior to your return.

Movement in international travel from Canada, Calgary is running a pilot program that allows travel to US via testing to clear quarantine. Must take C19 on arrival and if negative you don't have to quarantine, just follow up with a test 6 or 7 days later. This started today.

Flights via WestJet direct to Orlando from Calgary start in Dec. starting at $275, not a bad deal at all. Should increase the demand at the park a bit. Small step but progress.

ETA - Kenney said if the traveller pilot project goes well, it will be expanded to other Canadian airports early in the new year.

Not many. Most Canadians aren't in a hurry to travel to the US as much you believe they do.

NY travel restrictions changing to allow a shorter quarantine when combined with 2 negative tests, one within 3 days of entering the state and a second test 4 days after returning. Once the second test comes back negative you no longer have to quarantine. If you refuse to get tested the 14 day quarantine remains in effect but that’s now for every state, no naughty list anymore. Assuming 24 to 48 hour turn around on testing it cuts the quarantine from 2 weeks to about 1. I’m not sure if it helps WDW a ton, but if you time the travel right (travel to WDW the week before Thanksgiving and serve your quarantine Thanksgiving week) it’s possible to miss less school or work. I am assuming CT, NJ and PA among other States may follow this plan but not official yet for all of them.
I bet the real reason cuomo suddenly changed the NY travel restrictions is because if he didn’t New York itself would be on the banned list this week :)

I think it’s a fair change if it accomplishes the same end goal. Not sure why it’s an issue, but I guess if the echo chamber says the sky is green, it’s green. I don’t live in NY so I could care less about Cuomo as a politician. It’s funny to see people so triggered over the governor of a state they don’t live in and have no interest in visiting.

I don’t personally care one way or the other. Disney certainly cares as do the workers in the tourism industry who are still out of work. It’s going to take a while to get back to normal. They need any customers they can find.
I don't know how dependent we are on tourism from Canada, but my guess is not a lot. I would imagine many of the snowbirds from Canada will still come. If your retired and are planning on spending 5 months in the states the 2 week quarantine is nothing.
