Walls up at McDonalds

Pumbas Nakasak

Heading for the great escape.
Authentic food?
Canadians don't eat Canadian bacon.

Just thought that I would throw that in. Learned it on this web site (thanks, Monty).

:)

And I dont drink whiskey.

As has been said most "ethnic" foods are tweaked for the market they are being served in. Thats why all chinese food has cheese in it at Disney and theres no decent spicy food cause of all the tarts winging about the after burn.

R.I.P. dear friend. I was the first person served there on opening day and received my meal free. After eating I was chatting up a McDonald's exec saying I was disappointed that Mayor McCheese had no presence in the restaurant and he gave me a coupon for another free meal! lol

This was back when everything was fresh & new, bright & vibrant and clean as a whistle. I always hate how places go down hill after the newness wears off and the people in charge stop caring as much.

i agree with scooter and am bummed to see mcdonald's go... i have a VERY picky selective diet and get tired of the disney chicken/fries/burgers at all the parks... i was sad when i found out mcdonald's was pulled from the parks, and will miss having it down town... when most of my meals consist of quick service restaurants, it was nice to get a different taste with the traditional mcdonald's once in a while... but hey my main food groups are chicken and fries so i'm looking forward to trying the new place! maybe it'll get me hooked!

I am sad.

My wife and I ate at that McDonalds every trip.
After a week of eating bad bland Chinese food, Mexican food , German Food etc.
And those greasy generic burgers at all of Disney's Counter service places, it was nice to go to Mickey Dee's and and know exactly what you were getting and at a reasonable price.
I will miss those Fries and the consistency that McDonald's offers.

To those of you with picky eaters...I feel your pain.
Bye McDonalds, perhaps not by many, but you WILL be missed by some of us.

Really?
That seems very disappointing.

To who?? You? I am sure he doesn't really care. He likes McDonald's...good for him. He will miss it, as I am sure some others will as well.

It always amazs me how some like to tell others what they should or shouldn't like.

BTW...not a real big McDonald's eater, but to be frank, the best hamburger I had at WDW was a night I waited in line at the DTD McDonald's for 30 minutes for a Big Mac. After two days I was already tired of counter service food that tasted exactly the same, no matter the location. I would say the the people packing the place on a Tuesday night probably enjoyed the food as well.

Good point...while some people in this thread seem to bash McDonalds for being at Walt Disney World, The McDonald's at Downtown Disney was always busy so obviously there was a demand for their service. I guess everyone who ate there was crazy.

I'm VERY serious.

Maybe some of you don't care for McDonalds food, but that doesn't give anyone the right to put down those of us who do.
I don't eat fast food very often at home.
When I'm at Disney World, I tend to splurge and I sometimes make unhealthy food choices. That's one of the fun parts of vacations. To me McDonalds is the perfect choice for splurging.
I know exactly what I'm getting and I know exactly what it's going to taste like and I know exactly what I like or don't like on their menu.

How many times Have you ordered something at a World Showcase Restaurant only to find out when you got it that it cost you a fortune and you didn't care for it. We've all done that at least once.
That doesn't happen at McDonalds. You know what you like, you get what you want and it's reasonably priced.

One more fact: McDonalds burgers are actually healthier than the burgers at Pecos Bills, Cosmic Rays, the Electric Umbrella, and the like, and yet, no one complains about those places. And we all know McD's french fries taste better. Perhaps it's just the Golden arches that upset people...or perhaps Disney has just tricked us all into thinking that their burgers are better because they include a Lounge Lizzard act or Wild West tables and Cowboy ambiance.

It's just burgers and fries and chicken nuggets folks.
It's the same crap, just served in a differant box.:ROFLOL:
Alright I have to say I'll miss McDonald's too :lookaroun

YUP, wife and I will miss it too. Always started our vaca there and ended it there. We never found fault with it in the years we visited DTD and made it a place to grab a quick bit. About 5 years ago we purchased 2 pins from them that they had in their display case inside the place. Now we are glad we did!

Good bye ol'friend. Hate to see a personal tradition end, but we will find one to replace it.

We leave in 13 days for WDW, it will be great to be headed home for a while and see what's changed in a year.

It's not like they're leaving central Florida... There is still one near AK and several on 192. Why are so many people mustering up such drama over something that is still on property and surrounding the property?

While you are quite correct the big advantage this particular McDonald's had was that it was accessible to guests that were relying on resort transportation.

Ok but come on people you are on vacation you can eat a Mcdonalds any time of the day. Why would you want it while you are on vacation????

To us, because everything tastes better when you are on vacation, even "micky-d's". 1 year we got hooked on their sweet-tea. And of course the KEWL sound the soda fountain makes when you get your drinks. ;)

And as said by many, it was just convenient to grab a snack - least it was while at DTD. No it was not our dinner but just another snack tradition. Just like our favorite "peace of pizza" as offered by the POP resort.

We don't eat fast food at home. Wife is part owner in a restaurant and is a great cook as well at home so we don't have the need to eat this way at home. BUT for some reason while on vacation we feel the need to have fast food and indulge. Sure we can go to Crossroads and get our McDonalds fix but it’s not as convenient. Just like the french fry wagon that used to be in MK. It was just a nice snack and break from the day as we people watched.

BUT hey thanks for pointing out the obvious...I'm sure our vacation will be much less stressful now that I know Orlando has not banned all of it's McDonalds. WHEW!
